I'm obsessed with the green gauge.

It will make you stay away from traffic jams and drive thru restaurants. Gotta keep that green bar straight up!

My lifetime mpg average on the computer is 20.2.

Not bad for a V8 4x4.

I do use it to gauge the relative mileage going on inclines and such, especially when towing. That is pretty informative.
What do you average driving a full tank like that?

sport mode doesn't require you to drive it like you stole it and it doesn't take your truck back to the 1980's (9mpg) i have burned a tank through mine in SM and i got 18.2 all city according to my dash display almost identical to using no modes 18.5 all city.

sport mode and normal driving is just fine it dos t have that normal mode lag.

just double tap it.

Interesting - I've tried it a few times and it seems to always be a gear higher then regular mode and thought that may kill my MPG.

Does sport keep the turbos spooled and ready to go at all times to prevent that lag?

Not if you are Canadian. Less is more. I rarely use mine and get around 15.5 mugs with my 3.5. Still way better than both of my previous 6.2s so I am happy I guess but I do realize it is a three ton vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick so have kind of developed the attitude of 'it is what it is'. If it gets better, great, if not, so be it.

Cheers!

Just got my '16 Lariat 2.7 4x4 this week and I've had it on the instant mileage guage all week. It has definitely changed my habits (for the better I hope) over the '09 Jetta 2.5 I was driving before (no mileage gauge). On a 40 minute run on the highway yesterday (80-100kph / 50-60mph) I was able to do 9.8L/100km (24US/29Imp. mpg) by being very conscious of my gas pedal use.
Not sure that I'll see those numbers without the gauge showing. Too easy to put just a bit more pressure on the gas pedal and then the numbers start to climb. Good to know that decent numbers are possible though.

I use the green gauge most of the time. I haven't reset the mpg ever, so it ruins my day when I see it drop a tenth, going up a tenth makes for a great day. I also have anxiety attacks when I drive my other vehicles and they don't turn off while in a drive thru or at a stop light.
