Best Replacement Windshield?
I just got my first rock chip earlier this week. By last night it had turned into a series of cracks that spanned the area of a quarter. I got it repaired today at Safelite for free through my insurance, but it got me thinking about if I did have to replace my windshield......
With all of the cracked windshields on these trucks with the thinner "SoundScreen" glass, has anyone found a good hardy aftermarket windshield to replace them with? I'd be interested in getting a more "traditional" windshield with thicker glass, as long as the wind noise isn't worse. Anyone found one or know of any aftermarket windshields that should be avoided?
Thanks!

Just replace with the OEM SoundScreen glass and be done with it. Had mine replaced once with an OEM replacement because of a huge rock. Replaced it in the spring and it's still like new. If a rock hits your windshield strong enough, it'll chip or crack any glass. There's no magic windshields out there that can thwart off flying rocks, otherwise all cars would have them. Or at least all cars in Alberta anyways (the land of flying highway stones).

It's oem glass from what I can tell. It has Ford logo on it and everything including the rain sensors, soundscreen and the whole works. One word of advice stay away from safelite or the small signs you see on street corners where a company might give you a tablet or cash if you use them for a windshield replacement. That's junk glass. Carlite is oem

I've used Safelite for decades now..but request the OEM windshields. Lived in Houston for 30 years can't tell you how many windshields I had to replace on my company vehicles and families cars. Never had any issues with any of their installations.
