Best Cell Phone holder for the F150
#371
Doesn't matter!
X2 I’ve been using the WeatherTech Cup Fone https://www.weathertech.com/weathert...pfone/cupfone/.
Downside you lose a cup holder spot, but I got it as a Christmas gift.
I want to go with the built right industry dash mount and setup with Ram mounts https://www.builtrightind.com/produc...015-ford-f-150
I’m hesitant because it looks like the phone mount will block some of the ac vent.

One of Many
iTrader: (2)
1. how far the mount extends forward from the dash? (I too, have a column shifter. I was concerned if it would get in the way, causing some scraped up knuckles when shifting.)
2. how you secured the phone cord along the mount? (I assume you ran the cord under the Built Right Dash Mount Kit and down through the center stack to connect to the USB ports? I need to connect there for Apple Car Play.)
Thanks!

For those who used a builtright mount and the ram mount arms, what length arm did you use?

I used the BuiltRight mount with the 67 Designs "small" CF arm. It's OAL of the arm is advertised as 5.9". With the adapters, and the iOttie wireless charger, the phone sits about 7" from the base center point.

They sell a metal plate you can install under the plastic for more support if you want / need it.
Most say the plastic is strong enough for most applications. Unless you are mounting a large tablet is should be fine. You can always add the metal backing plate later.

IIRC, it just uses small bolts, with washers and nuts on the bottom. You do need to drill holes in the dash depression. I also drilled a hole for the charging wire for the iOttie, and used a rubber grommet. The overall setup works quite well, and looks great, IMO.
