I guess I'm the oddball but I'm going to go with a drop in plastic bed liner. With a Bak Vp and once someone starts 2015 production, Stainless smooth polished top, side, front and rear bed rail covers. My Aug 9 ordered Lariat scab 4x4 finally came in, and I picked it up Sat. But with the horrible snow, ice and salt I'm still driving my 1991 XLT/Lariat this week. I use it like a truck and I like the way the drop in lets water drain and dry under the bed liner. Other than the obvious paint chaffing, the bed is perfect. I don't know what to do with this '91 but I bought it new and it refuses to die so I guess I'll keep it for the really tough jobs the 2015 wouldn't like.

Do what you like but my thoughts on drop-in liners are as follows:
I have a rubber bed mat and never had paint damage underneath, looks like new paint. Perhaps that would occur with hauling sand but not my use for the truck to haul sand or rocks.
Drop in liners are well known issue to rub off paint-not my idea either. This is old stuff as they've been around a long time. Many years ago some started using a thin, foam plastic liner(I don't know what it actually is made from) under them but that doesn't work on wheel wells,etc.. A friend owns a auto paint supply company and sidelines in accessories too and they have the foam in wide width on a roll rack. I tried it in the mid-nineties but the results are poor overall. Ican see them as useful for certain pro uses where caustic chemicals are hauled in back like maybe a spray tank with material that causes corrosion?

Any concerns with Box Link and Bed Light clearance?

Ditto here. The spray in liner protects the bed and the mat absorbs impact and helps keep stuff from sliding around. Also the black spray in looks good against the Ruby Red paint.

Does anyone have a spray-in AND a drop-in? My truck came sprayed and I'm thinking about getting a drop-in and/or a mat.

I am going with the drop in plastic liner as well. Had one in my 1997, and 2010 trucks. I go camping a lot. I like that the kids can load/unload bikes without issue. I throw fire wood in the back, really, whatever I want. Not worried about dents & dings.

The BoxLink plates mount over most covers. I already have a few E-track accessories. I figure, whoever has the most tie downs, bungees, and ratchet straps, wins!

I plan to get the OEM bed light switch, and connect it to a strip of lights that run the length under each bed rail. I will top it off with a BakFlip G2.

They obviously have their uses/users as several companies still make them. Some people used to put them in an abused truck bed to doll it up for sale.
