I am picking up a new Lariat Super Cab in two weeks. I cannot decide if I should have a spray in bed liner or just leave the bed as is. Any input ?
I have a plastic bed liner in my 2013 and it has done a good job. I just don't like the idea of water beneath the plastic bed liner.
Thank you
Think about your most common use. A spray in bedliner would scratch the crap out of my $5k in rods and reels so I went with the bedrug. If my truck we used for landscaping most of the time I'd get a spray in etc.

None of my Musky rods fit in the box, I put them inside and lay them from the back seat across to the front dash.

Not sure what the issue is here. Water under the liner just drips out the regular drains or out the back. I wonder what people do that have no liner of any kind and it rains, and the paint in the box gets wet?
It all depends on what you're using the box for. I put the Ford plastic liner in mine, cause my cargo needs to slide. With the spray in, it's quite rough, so I usually laid something down first and then put the cargo on top of that.

The difference is that when it is covered with plastic it doesn't dry very well. I'm not sure if that's as big of a deal with an aluminum bed, but it can still corrode if salt gets trapped under there.
You are right that it really depends on what you use it for, there is no "best" solution. I got the Bedrug after having a drop-in on my old truck. I thought it was a good compromise between being able to slide stuff in and stay in place. Happy so far.

If you're gonna keep the truck go Line-X premium. You're not gonna get better protection.
My surf rod/reel combos are in the area of $1600 ea. and my boat rods aren't much cheaper.
There are options to carry your gear.
