Default Bed bolt question

I'm in the process of putting D rings on my bed bolts similar to how I, and others have done with tacomas. Is there any aluminum body specific purpose to the original washer that's on the bed bolts? I think it would be best to just replace the washer with the D ring hardware but I am not sure if there was a reason to have them below the D ring hardware. My bed is LineX'd as well so the hardware shouldn't make contact with the aluminum bed.

It is my understanding that the bed bolts are one time use. Once you remove them they are to be discarded and replace with new bolts.

I'd want the d-ring hardware in contact with something metal. It seems to me that having bed liner material between the d-ring and the bed/frame that you're tightening against is a recipe for bolts coming loose somewhere down the road.

I've never heard that before, do you have a source at all? I can't imagine it making a huge difference. I realize it's a different application but I never had an issue with them on my tacoma.

Makes sense. Here's what it looks like with the washer.

I have read numerous times that it is recommended by Ford to replace the bolts if they're removed. I have also removed and reused my bolts on several different Ford trucks over the years and have yet to ever have a problem. I think it's pretty much just a CYA thing for them...

I've reused bed bolts numerous times over the years and never had an issue. They are big, long bolts, so IF they were to ever come loose, I think you would know about it long before the bed falls off.

A little I guess. I hadn't really been on there in a while after starting a family and whatnot.

Yeah if it were a big deal then everyone that gets linex would have to get new bed bolts since they remove them to spray.
