Bcb, 5star or Livernois tune

I think you asked this in the other section...........but 5 Star.
I'm not a fan of the adaptive tune. I run the 93 performance on my 3.5eb. The adaptive didn't give even as good a butt-dyno feel as the 93 perf/tune did. You'll get a little more than stock out of it, but run a octane-dedicated tune and just reflash when you need.

+1 for the 5 Star.
I’m running the 93 performance tune in my 3.5 EB and its killer. Had it for about 12 mos now with zero problems. With 93 octane being (relatively) cheap right now, there’s no better time to go for it.

I'll toss a booster for Brew City Boost! I went with them due to proximity. The shop is in SE WI and figured they are used to the weather. Turns out they offered much more in service and customer cooperation. Far as experience their foundation is in tuning Saab's in Milwaukee for a long time, well before Ecoboost was a thing. Cannot comment on other sources or offer comparisons. But I do feel I'm more than just another customer when dealing with Kelly or Casey in spite of the generational difference! KM

On my 2017 2.7 I'll just mention boost, 14PSI stock tune, up to 20+PSI with BCB custom 93 octane. Consider that this jump also has fuel supply/spark advance/and several other changes factored in. It is quicker and faster with the tune.
Yet as long as I watch the foot there is also a bit of an increase in fuel mileage from fattening the torque up, only a mile or 2 per gallon but it's there. KM

Just bought a Livernois for my wifes 2.7 does the tuner have to stay plugged in after uploading the tune? I want to do it without her knowing and see what she says.

With the potential cam phaser issue on our trucks, meaning needing an engine warranty claim, I'm not thinking of getting a tune at the moment, but the answers to a few questions I have, might help me (and others here) possibly consider one in the future. Here they are:
1. With power basically equal to the 3.5HO, are ALL internals on a regular 3.5EB the same as the 3.5EB HO? If not, what's different? That'd help us determine how the engine might hold up in the long run.
2. With only 91 octane available in over half the country (including where I live), what kind of gains you get with the most popular tuner (5*) at the crank, to compare it to the stock 375/470?
3. Is the 10-sp tranny exactly the same on 3.5EBs than 3.5EB HOs? If not, what's different? And is a tranny tune needed? And why? I always drive in sport mode, by the way.
4. Are any other drivetrain internal components, like differentials (4x4 here), shafts, IWEs, etc., beefier on the 3.5EB HO models? To judge potential future issues.
5. What are the approximate fuel mileage implications of a tune? I worry that on the highway (high load), at over 80 mph here in TX, my truck already drinks fuel like a madman. But having said that, it's better with premium fuel than with regular, so maybe with more power, the difference is minimal, but would like to know.
6. Finally, with powertrain warranty basically out, does anybody know from the top of his head the 5* warranty details? Like what is covered, deductible, how much, etc.
Please free to add any other relevant issues to consider. This should help people like me, who have never had a tune before, and that are risk averse as well . Thank you.
JC
