Bcb, 5star or Livernois tune
#41
Want to ask a question here without getting flamed, purely out of interest. Ignorantly, I didn't know about 5* when I tuned my 2.7 almost 4 years ago and went with Livernois, which I loved.. When I bought my 3.5, I went with them again partially because of the cost break since I had them prior, and partly because I was so pleased with the 2.7. Over the last two years, I've read so many threads about 5* and see how they've gained popularity. My truck with LN runs like all get out. Its fast. Huge improvement over stock at every rpm point and chirps my 33" tires on the 1-2 shifts. I've had many tuned german cars before and have a GT350 now, so i'm no stranger to what "fast" is.
So can someone please explain the lure with 5* over LN? Is there some bad mojo with LN from the past? Is the 5* tune really better? Safer? Faster? Again, I'm just trying to understand all of it from an unbiased point of view.since when I read these threads, they are always 5* heavy. Any insight is appreciated

The 'lure' of 5* to me was a few things
- Huge number of real-people testimonials, such as members of this board
- Available warranty which indicates they have a high degree of faith in the safety of their tunes
- Despite huge numbers of real-people testimonials on how great their tunes are, apparently nobody has tried 'collecting' on their warranty yet. Not one mention anywhere on the web I could find to a person needing to use their warranty or even having a problem and wishing they had bought the warranty. That, to me, is huge
While I tell myself I have full faith and confidence that a log and alterations done by 5* could only make it better, it's so good on first install and I like it so much, I'm kind of afraid of change. It drives wonderfully great and is 5.05 0-60 dragy verified with 34" 10 ply ridge grapplers

5 Star ever get their transmission shifting worked out well enough?

Short of worrying about destroying a trans (maybe why they did it?), you do want your torque down low. For a truck pulling a trailer or not, you really want the torque as low as possible. It will help hold gears etc..

...when did they not?
There are different tunes. For example, "Performance", "Performance/Tow", "Economy", etc

Not to mention Livernois motorsports is in Dearborn Michigan the home of the F-150 and Ford! Livernois also has great customer service and knowledgeable when you talk to them.
