Battery Replacement
Have a 2016 Lariat with 49k on it still with original battery (Part #bxt-94rh7-730)
I have noticed that it takes a little longer to turn over. Instead if instant it will take a couple more seconds.
Going to test battery tomorrow but will be heading to Chicago on Friday for a couple of days (from SW MO) and don't necessarily want any issues.
If it is good I won't replace but if it on the edge I will replace.
The original in it is 730 amp.
I know there are some great batteries out there but wanted to get real user thoughts on brand and cranking amps (if higher than 730) And for me, it doesn't have to be an AGM. I would be happy with lead as well.
Thanks

Sounds like I should replace no matter what
found some old threads on batteries but would like thoughts on those that might have replaced one recently. Also thoughts on one more than original 730CCA. We only get real cold down here a few days a year and my truck is inside overnight.
Not sure if I need more CCa or not

Your 2016 3.5 Ecoboost will not have the AGM battery from the factory, and that's confirmed with the part number you provided from your battery. You have a lead-acid battery and that's what it calls for. You can upgrade to an AGM but probably should re-code the body controller with the updated battery since it was coded for a normal lead-acid battery. AGM and lead-acid batteries have different characteristics.
Your 730 is also the upgraded capacity, being a Lariat, over the standard 610. Doesn't mean you couldn't find something even higher.

Sounds like you know what you're doing. Get it tested, and if a 7 year old battery is iffy, replace it and feel good about getting your money's worth out of it. If it's still good, you can probably get the summer out of it and check it again before next winter.

looks like some research today on what is a good lead acid battery.

thanks for this info. After doing some research, it seemed I would have had to do reprogram something to the vehicle if I get an AGM. I really didn’t want to do that. I like keeping things simple. I also didn’t know that the 730 was the larger CCA formthenLariat. Good to know and I’ll stick with that size.

FYI you should at a minimum follow the attached procedure to reset your BMS system. It has an "aging" factor that changes the charging rate (lower charging rate) as the battery gets older.
Ideally you should 1) Fully charge the new battery before installing it. 2) Install the new battery, then reset the BMS. 3) Lock the truck by pressing the driver door lock switch, close the door, and let the truck sit untouched for at least 8 hours. This allows the BMS to immediately relearn the fully charged battery's state of charge.
