Default Backup sensor moisture causing Malfunction

It recently cost me $ 206 at a dealer to find out the backup sensor had moisture in it. This is not the 1st time,is there anyway of preventing it from happening again.

I have read all the comments regarding my problem. I will fix the problem myself next time. By the way the temperature at the time was -28c
thanks for all your suggestions

What were the symptoms you were experiencing when you put the truck in reverse?

I wouldn't pack it, but coat the male end outside with some to create a nice seal when slid together.

Dielectric grease.. any auto parts store will have it. It's a non conductive grease so, don't use it inside the plug.
