Default backup lights

I would like to add 1 or 2 LED backup lights to my truck. I know if you plug anything into the trailer wiring it makes the truck think there is a trailer attached and messes with the cross traffic and BLIS, but if I were to just grab power from the reverse light wire (center of the 7 connector) would this still cause issues? Is there a way around this?

You can tie into the center pin to power reverse LEDs. I used it to trigger a relay to two small rock LEDs on my 15 Lariat with no issues related to the trailer recognition, BLIS, etc. They were mounted to the tow hitch and you really couldn't even see them. I posted pics here somewhere.

This works well but would be easy to steal if you leave it in all the time:

I purchased the back-up/reverse LEDs from 4x4TruckLEDs.com.............

Amazingly bright and pretty simple.

Yes, this is great if you don’t have LED rears. I went this route with my current 17 XLT. MY 15 Lariat has LED rears, which have LED reverse lights that aren’t replaceable, which is why I used the LED rock lights. Just throwing that out.

Just the bulbs. The premium ones.

Really light up well.

I just installed a set of cubes this weekend on my xlt. I soldered into the reverse wire and ground at the seven pin and wired to both lights. LEDs hardly draw anything. No need to install a relay. It did not trigger any trailer alarms on the dash. I was going to install a relay, but after I thought about it it would be no different than having a trailer hooked up with reverse lights installed on it. It works damn good and I can see a good ways with the back up camera.

Which ones did you get off the website specifically?

I used these, in my Backup lights, cargo lights, and 3rd brake light (red version): http://ledandsafety.com/921-S-30-wat...ulbs-921-S.htm
