Default Backup Camera alternative for trailer

Wonder if anyone else has done this ...

Want: a backup camera on the back of our trailer

Solution: make a little bracket on the back of our trailer that I could slide an Iphone into as a temp backup camera

Plug in a router into the 110 outlet of the cab ... and use Facetime to my phone

I know .. stupid idea .... but I thought I would throw it out there for a no cost alternative

No cost... unless you don't have a router, bracket, or another device to make the call to the phone...

Install a real backup camera on the trailer. Add an RCA jack by your hitch terminals. Feed this RCA cable to your head unit on a splitter or get a mirror with built in monitor. Attach RCA cable from trailer camera to hitch jack. Mission complete.

A vendor on here, Camera-Source has plenty of options available for this type of application. Check them out here:

Or audiovox, and perhaps other, have a wireless camera. I had one on my Sequoia although the video is the only wireless part, it still had to be grounded and powered which can easily be done through the trailer wiring.

When I use to double tow with my 5th wheel, I had used a video baby monitor. The wireless kind. Just a thought.
