Default Automatic Tailgate Line-X Issue

So I took delivery of my Platinum FX4 earlier this week, and first things first, I have been extremely happy with it. 4 months of waiting may seem like chump change to half of you guys but it was brutal nonetheless.

Either way I wanted to go with a higher quality liner so I took it to my local Line-X shop (Line-X of Houston). Overall the quality is good, but when I was showcasing my truck to one of my buddies, I noticed that the automatic tailgate didn't drop like it's supposed to. The latch clicked, but the dampened tailgate seems to be getting hung up on the piece of rubber on the bed that the gate closes into. A small tug and the tailgate falls like it should, but obviously I would prefer that it work like it was designed to.

Relatively small thing to complain about, and my grandfather would probably laugh in my face if I complained about having to physically touch the truck to get the tailgate to fall, but I was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue and if they could trim some of the liner to get it working properly. Thanks in advance.

Same here. It's at Ford today getting repaired and back doors alingned. We figured out it's catching on the thickness of the spray in liner at the rubber stops. Body shop said it would be an easy trim and should be good to go. After I get it back I'll post pictures of where I'm talking about.

Are you trimming the actual liner or the rubber bumpers? The rubber seems like an easier fix.

This issue, along with my (somewhat irrational) fear that the local guy wont know how to properly bond the liner to an aluminum truck is why this will be the first truck I buy with a factory liner.

Not to get too far off topic, but has anyone found this to be a problem with a Bed Rug installation?

My tail gate wouldn't close on the passenger side after my spray in was done. It was hanging up on the rubber stop as well. I made the easy fix and just took them off... The tail gate closes properly now and there is no wiggle in it once closed.

I have a similar issue. Two things will impact it: 1. If I open and close in quick succession, by third time it works properly for awhile. 2. If warmer it works without issue.

Yes, it is where the liner and the rubber stop touch. I think over time it will self correct (as liner cures) or could trim liner in that area on both sides.

The lineX is great! and looks fantastic. The local rep told me that they actually had a 2015 Ford bed given to them by Ford to work with and practice on and all that info was given to their distributors (true or BS - I don't know, but it looks great). Mine has been on for 45 days and still looks brand new.

I got my bed done with line-x about a month ago and have not had any issues. It was the first 2015 they had done, but everything worked out great.

I had the same issue on a 2015 Platinum. The issue is probably where they sprayed the small little latch at the bottom of the tailgate. Hard to explain and unable to take a picture at the moment but there is a small extrusion at the base of the tailgate on left side as looking at it when open. LineX typically sprays that entire area. Get a small file or rasp and just shave off the coating. It will then move in and out of the slot smoothly and operate as it did prior to spraying.
