Mine has been starting fine as well. The only thing I noticed was that within the last month I started getting messages from fordpass saying the truck was going into deep sleep mode. Which was from the battery voltage dropping, which I would assume is why my s/s had not been working. As listed in a post above, the s/s will not engage if the battery is below a certain charge.

The engine on screen was right there as described. While driving around it says “engine on, normal operation”. At any time the truck came to a stop it would immediately switch to “engine on, battery charging”.

I’ll price a battery.

Many thanks.

After you put gas in the tank, the Auto Start Stop won't work for a day or two. Supposedly, the computer is checking the gasoline.

Now your getting somewhere. Lol. My truck sits for weeks at a time during the summer as I switch to two wheels. When I started driving it again I was continually getting the same “due to charging” message. Just last week I needed to take a trip up to Ft. Collins and it wasn’t until I got home that the charging message finally went away. 3 hours of almost continuous driving. My truck is a 2017 with just shy of 23k on it and still has OE battery.

I heard these trucks use less standby power when they are locked. Any truth to that?

It appears the truck is going to play with me some. At the 4 opportunities it had this morning, the engine shut down flawlessly and told me it was off. I brought the tools for a battery exchange and will at some point get a battery at Batteries Plus about a mile from the office....but right now I think I'll just see what happens for a while. As I type this a cold front is dropping the 6am temp of 73 degrees down through the 40's this afternoon and to just below freezing the next few mornings. I'll see what that does.......

Interesting, on the way home from the gas station 5 miles down the road, and usually 30 gallons or a little more put in, my truck Auto Stop-Starts at every stop light in town (all 4 of them) that is red.

Auto start/stop functions just fine on mine right after fueling up. If yours isn't, I'd check the screen to see why.

I found this on page 181 of my 2018 manual. Mine is Flex fuel.

Same in my 2019 manual but mine is not Flex Fuel. That answers that interesting idiosyncrasy.
