Auto Start/Stop issue
- The system automatically enables every time you start your vehicle if:
- You do not press the Auto StartStop button (not illuminated).
- Your vehicle exceeds an initial speed of 3 mph (4 km/h) after you have initially started your vehicle.
- You have stopped your vehicle.
- Your foot is on the brake pedal.
- The transmission is in drive (D).
- The driver door is closed.
- There is adequate brake vacuum.
- The interior compartment has cooled or warmed to an acceptable level.
- The front windshield defroster is off.
- You have not turned the steering wheel rapidly or you do not have it at a sharp angle.
- The vehicle is not on a steep road grade.
- The battery is within optimal operating conditions (battery state of charge and temperature in range).
- The engine coolant is at operating temperature.
- Elevation is below about 10000 feet (3048 meters).
- Ambient temperature is moderate.
- You have selected 4X2 or Auto mode.
- The trailer is not connected.
- You have not selected Tow haul.
- You have not selected Manual or Sport mode.
Note: The system allows multiple successive Auto StartStop events, but it may not operate in conditions of heavy traffic or in extended low speed operation.
Sorry for the log post, but there sure a lot of things that need to go right here in order for the system to work. I think the temperature is always the issue with my truck, and why mine doesn't work all of the time.
There's a simple way to see if your system is working correctly.
Have a warn truck and please have the screen up that's in post #5.
Come to a stop, make sure you have enough pressure on the brake pedal. If you get "Normal Operation" on the screen and do NOT get a green "A" with circular arrow around it in the dash. The truck isn't working correctly.
If you get a reason why it's not shutting off in screen, and a grey "A" with circular arrow, then that's why it's not auto shutting off.
Hope this helps. It sounds like you may be getting the first scenario and there's something wrong, go to your dealer in this case.

Have to agree with the last post - the truck will tell you the reason the stop start isn't engaged - not super specific, but it will give you the general class of reason. If your truck isn't giving you those messages then something is off... Note that one does have to push the brake pedal hard enough before any of those other messages will come up.
And one other quirk - the auto start stop won't engage if the defroster is on - but note that is only true if ONLY the defroster is selected - not the the vents or floor or both at the same time as the defroster. Noticed that behavior today in my truck in 20 degree temps. With the defroster only on, it stays runnning due to heating/cooling per the screen, turn on the vent too, and it will shut off.
Point being, there are a boatload of inputs to this one... and a boatload of combinations that don;t allow it to engage.

Another thing to pay attention to when at a stop that I noticed - pay attention to your hand(s) on the steering wheel. if you are putting even slight pressure on it the auto stop will not engage.
Lots of people (not all) commenting that haven't read past the first post... And some didn’t comprehend any posts.
Thank you to those that read, comprehended, and contributed.
Update: I took it in. Dealer found the problem. They repaired it. Truck is working properly again.

My battery was bad after 1 year and 11k. It is now apparent that something is killing the battery. Unless your dealer knows anything about start/stop the symptom of the battery will be the only repair. The cause will not be fixed. Start/stop needs optimum voltage to function. Unless there is a programming issue, them I must have a charging system issue. I take mine in on 9-23-16 for a different repair (items broke when dealer installed brake controller last year). I will request they they trouble shoot and not just tell me the engine has to meet certain conditions for start/stop to work.
Sorry for the delayed response. Hopefully more info soon.
