As the title states. Yep, read the owners manual. I normally don't use the auto on setting, I can turn the lights on myself, but, I do go from manual off, turn all the way to auto dim. The last couple times I drove at night, in darkest Michigan, the auto hi/lo didn't work. Yes, the proper speeds were met, as well as no other vehicle within miles at around midnite.
Is there something in the instrument panal display settings i might have screwed up other than the length of time setting?

I went and checked like DJ offered, and the auto was checked.
I left the **** turned all the way to auto, so next time the lights should come on in auto dim. I tested that out in the barn with the door closed, and barn lights off, and heads went on at low beam. Wasn't above 30 mph or so, so they stayed on lo.
We'll see next time I drive at night if just leaving **** in auto is the cure. Never had trouble before with the heads.
Would manually going to hi/lo, or lo/hi with the stalk screw up the auto?
I'm wondering if that isn't the problem.

for auto highs to work, the switch needs to be in auto and then you should see the highbeam indication in the cluster with an A in the center, that means the system is active and ready.
If you use the stalk while in auto, it defeats them for that ignition cycle
You can enable/disable auto high beams with the stalk. You do not need to cycle the ignition. Stalk forward toggles auto high beams on and off (the little A will show/hide as it is enabled/disabled).
