I get amusement out of GM's blunders. That 2.7 is hilarious--it gets worse gas mileage, has less power, and tows less than Ford's 2.7. GM's excuse was that it isn't supposed to compete with the 2.7 EB and that it's supposed to be an entry level motor but that still doesn't explain the fuel economy. Oh yeah, their response to that was "ignore the EPA numbers"...comforting. I suspect they had higher hopes, then couldn't turn back after they put the money into R&D.

It isn't just that either, they also had the 5.3 dying on the ice rink, then closing factories, now the new HD truck that looks like they had an intern design it. It never ends!

I also found GM's other financial and design shenanigans comical, but I could care less about the '19 and '20 T1XX.....until they started to affect their willingness to fix the issues on my truck. A vast chunk of affected owners (beyond that which the F150's problems will ever see) of the '17-19 Colorados and Canyons with the 3.6 LGZ and 8L45 are still waiting on a fix for transmission, along with a few more from the 6.2 Silverados and Sierras for their 8L90. The last fix didn't work, and now all we're being told is to patiently wait for a software update that they evidently have no motivation to make or a deadline to conform to. The '15-18s with the 6L50 waited almost 3 years for the fix, which only came this year - that was without the 2019 Silverado looming on the horizon.

That said, Mary Barra Motors does make for better entertainment than TV. A 2.7 l-4 that doesn't have the power to displace even the 5.3 (and should have been fantastic in the Colorado), an dog of a 5.3, the cancerous 8L90 still being kept in the lineup for some reason even though the 10L80 is out, brick-wall-faced 2020 HD, finally going to rounded wheel wells on the 1/2 ton yet for some reason keeping the risible square wells on the HD, closing its factories yet still runs below 50% capacity on every one of its North American factories, removal of 4Low from all 4x4 '19s that don't have X31/Z71 or Trail Boss/AT4, carbon fiber bed, 3.0 LM2 Duramax that tows less than the Colorado's 2.8 LWN Duramax........grab your popcorn because 2019 is only going to get better.

I have a 2013 XLT, bought new for 32,000. Added a camper shell, Bedrug, aftermarket towing mirrors, custom seat covers, OEM rubber mats, and a nice Garmin GPS. It is a nice truck. For the price difference you can customize your truck and save $$$. If money did't matter I would buy top of the line all the time. Not happening. Be happy.

Absolutely no regrets. I as most that wanted leather opted to add custom Katzkins. They typically are a better quality and allow the customer to design the colors, stitching ect. I love them and they work with the oem heaters with no issues. I didn't want the sunroof, i did however want the LED tails and headlights until I saw the poor light output. The majority of options can be later added to an XLT a la carte on your own thanks to guys such as livinitup for clusters and a HUGE wealth of knowledge. For the price, it's all the same truck at the end of the day with more options. You have just as much motor, paint and body as a lariat, anything can be dressed!

One solution is to buy used. I purchased 2015 Lariat with 3.5 EB with max tow package and 30k miles. Ford certified therefore 12k bumber to bumper and 7 year 100k power train warranty for less than a F150 sport with 2.7 EB. Drive out under 35k.
