Default Antennas

On my 2016 XLT, is the little black thing on the roof the Sirius antenna and the fender antenna the AM-FM antenna? If so, do I even need the fender antenna if I never listen to AM or FM?
This is the first vehicle I have owned with a non-power conventional antenna in about 20 years. Naturally it hits the garage door header when I drive in. Should I just replace it with a shorter antenna?
My last truck just had a little shark fin on the roof.

A shorter antenna usually gets worse reception but if you never listen to AM or FM then it won't make any difference. Short antennas look better too.

yes, the fender antenna is am/fm. I replaced mine with a stubby bullet antenna but reception with one that short will depend on the area you live and how close you are to radio station antennas.

Mine drug across the garage door header and drove me nuts. Was actually scratching the paint on the header. Swapped it out for this-

Thanks for the quick answers. I'll go get a short one. I love this truck, hope I don't regret not getting a loaded-out model.

honestly, the only things i wanted in the lariat, were the double moonroof and the led lights

i don't use the park assist
don't use the pro trailer
done use lane departure
i put in my own custom stereo so the sony was useless to me
blis i don't even notice the light.

I heard too many odd things about potential wind/whistling noise with the short antenna's, so I just popped the ball off my stock antenna and used a hacksaw to cut off 3" from the top of it. JB welded the ball back on the top, and presto, a free shortened antenna that doesn't hit my garage roof anymore (yet is still the tallest point on the truck, so it will warn me if I'm too high for a parkade!)

I put a 17" antenna from O'Reilly's on my truck. Reception is excellent, but I can detect a slight whistle at highway speed. I think We can live with it. Big road trip next week will tell for sure.

Default Need antenna?

No. You don't need the antenna if all you listen to is Sirius or cd/line in/phone etc.
