What's up guys and girls, I have a 2016 F150 with the new hub to support Apple CarPlay. Just switched back to android and need to know how to get the Android Auto working like it should, do I need to swap for the original USB hub? If not how do I get it working so I have Google maps and all of the Android Auto features? Any and all help is more than welcome, have a great day and hope you love your trucks!!
Could have swore the USB swap for iOS was for USB 3.0. So if youre going to Android, you should be fine with that without having to swap anything back.

Nope you don't need to swap the hubs back. Go into settings and make sure AA is turned on. If it is then make sure you have a good USB cable, I have some that will charge my phone but will not allow AA to work.
Do you have Android auto app installed on your phone? If not install it and run through setup before connecting to your truck. Then all you have to do is plug it in and AA will startup. I use AA an the time using "ok Google" to play music and navigate using Waze or Google maps.
Sync3 v2.2 and higher have worked with Android Auto on my F150. Like others have stated, make sure you have the LATEST versions of Android Auto, Google Maps and Waze. Also, use your usb cable that came with the phone. Some have had problems with after market usb cables. My phone (Samsungm Android 6.01) worked fine on v2.2. Then upgraded to v3.0 and Android Auto would not work. After uninstalling some apps I didn't use much, it is working again, so be aware of that possibility. After you connect the usb cable, Android Auto will boot up on the phone and your Sync3 screen will display the Android Auto icon on the bottom. When you first open Android Auto, it will ask some questions. You need to say yes to them all and it may want to download an update or two.
That only what the icon looks like while connected to AA and still in Sync, the AA home screen will look similar to this and may take 20-30 seconds to start up. if you get a screen like that you are good.
As mentioned above AA works great on sync 2.2 and up and on the stock usb ports and newer. Only need to upgrade ports for those Apple things. I have upgraded from 2.2 to 2.3 then 3.0 and each time AA stopped working. I just uninstalled AA and reinstalled it to fix it.
Maybe that is what fixed mine also. I uninstalled it along with other apps. It sure was aggravating that I had it working all along on v2.2, then upgraded to v3.0 because I heard Waze would work better. No difference between v2.2 and v3.0. I am done with the updates. Everythng works. I noticed absolutely no differences in the versions on the F150 and Escape.
