I think my issue is totally different. My dash lights never go off, very bright during the day so you can see it, dim at night so it does not blind you. I keep my headlight switch on auto but when it's dusk or dawn my dash is prematurely dimming thinking it's nighttime, If I shine a flashlight on my sun / solar sensor in the middle of the dash it un-dims. So I need to somehow inject light into the sensor not take away light.

I have this same problem -- the headlights come on (and, consequently, the dash lights dim) FAR too early, and thus during daybreak and dusk (or even a very cloudy day), the instruments are nearly unreadable, regardless of how high I choose to put the 'dash light' buttons near the headlight switch.

I am hoping there is a FORscan-editable value somewhere that determines what the threshold value is between day and night from the dash sensor signal. Raising that threshold value (so that it would have to be darker to trigger the headlights) would solve my problem. Unfortunately, the post above that recommends placing some sort of tint over the sensor would only make my problem worse.

Right now, I work-around that issue by manually turning the headlights off during dusk/dawn/cloudy conditions, but that's a very inelegant and cumbersome solution.

Are you able to turn your dash to full bright? That's what I do unless it's actually dark, then I dim it.

Yes you can brighten the night mode, not sure if it still gets bright enough tho. You can just turn the lights off and that turns off the solar sensor but still the fact that it would be nice if it worked properly.

I think I read that there is not a forscan setting to adjust the sensitivity of it

I wanted my DRLs which I have set to my turn signals on the front to be on more in the morning and in the evening so I rigged up a light and moved the sensor. This is just a prototype setup to see what's going to happen. The setup allows me to run my anzo with switchback lights as turn signals for my DRLs for longer periods of time in the morning or evening and it doesn't switch out when I'm under bridges or going through tunnels.

I have the light on a switch so basically if I'm in DRLs on the headlight switch in this light is on then I will have my turn signals in the front. If I want my dash lights to be on I do need to turn on my park lamps or headlights and that overcomes the problem of not seeing the switches in low light situations

I have the same issue. On cloudy or rainy days its almost impossible to read the buttons on media console or location of locks. Black on black interior. I was wondering if anyone has upgraded the backlighting to a stronger LED light after applying this method on over the sensor.
