Need a simple forscan code switch to turn the backlights on and not change anything else.
There is no simple Forscan code to do what you want. About the only thing I can think of would be rewiring the lighting and since you don't want to change things that's out. Those back lights for those switches are hooked to all the other ones on the dash.

Sorry to revive this, OP, ever figure it out? This too bothers me as I can't read the buttons in the middle of the day.

Hey, so I did a fix that made me happy. I bought some darkening film and covered up the sensor. This makes it turn on the headlights more than necessary. But if rather this over not being able to see my controls. I cut a piece of this

Thank you! Ford should address this visibility issue. It affects a select group of individuals and is a genuine SAFETY ISSUE for that group. It can be easily addressed in the software if they were aware if it. Maybe someone on here that know how can point it out to the proper thread.

I saw a post by another user that did something similar to address this issue and they stated that it made their HVAC wonky??? Have you seen this?

I have the same issue it’s so annoying, the ambient light sensor trips on a slightly cloudy day dimming the dash lights when it shouldn’t be dim, using tint would make it worse it would always be dim then, anyone else have any solutions?

But wouldn't that cause the dash to constantly be dark? I would think I need more light into the light sensor not less light?

My issue is lets say at 6AM where I live it's sunrise which is not light enough for the light sensor to make the decision that it's daytime and has the dash in dim mode(night mode) but yet it's light enough where I can't see the dash or the sync 3 screen. or if it's cloudy or if I drive into a shaded area it dims the dash cause there is not enough light. Yet it's fully daytime out.

Nope, when it's daylight the system turns the lights off since it assumes you can see. When is darker out it turns the dash lights on so that you can see them. I've had it set up now for a while and it solves the problem.
