Our local dealership is expecting to get in the exact truck we want within 10 days, per their order. 2015,5'5, SCrew,Platinum, Tuxedo Black, Brunello Interior, Fx4, etcetera... My concern is with the 3.31 E Locking Axel. We plan on lifting to 6" with 35's. Will this tear up the gears? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question. I am SO anxious to get one but not about to tear it up the beautiful
truck. Basically, should I wait for a 3.55 ( at least)? So I won't ruin the truck. I am a woman, from TX, and I love a truck lifted, with big tires. In my blood, big trucks are sexy.

So the downside to running that setup with 3:31's is what? Fuel economy or will it actually be too much to get it rolling with 3:31's that will cause drive train damage?

The worry would be that the truck would be working much harder to get up to speed with the higher gears and bigger tires. Which engine is it, EcoBoost or 5.0?

I completely agree. With that setup 3.31s would be struggling. 3.55s wouldn't even be the best, if you can get 3.73, get it.
. Unless you plan on regearing, wait for a truck with 3.55s or 3.73s and you'll be much happier in the long run.

I say get it and re-gear it. I ordered that exact truck with the Eco and 3.55 max tow. I only plan on putting 33's (1 inch larger than stock) so I am keeping stock gear.

No way I would even keep 3.73s on 35s. I think you need 4.10s, maybe 4.30s. The extra gear won't mean your truck will be revving high going down the freeway, actually it will bring it back close to stock.

I agree regear if your going to run 35's.
Here is a calculator for tire size change. http://www.4lo.com/calc/geartire.php

Wait for the 3.55's.

If not you'll always be worried about the 3.31's and wondering "what if". Buyers remorse is an ugly thing my friend.

IMO I think re-gearing is REALLY BAD advice. This will likely impact your warranty and regearing is a pretty big install not to mention $$. I personally would not want someone tearing into my brand new truck..

Getting taller factory gears from the start is the way to go. If you get 3.73's with 35's those are actually a taller combo than 3.31's with stock tires..
