Almost ran out of gas! No complaints here! 2.7 Eco
I guess the computer was just a tad bit off. It's time to fill up when the "gal used" hits 33 gallons next time around.

You're blaming the truck computer calibration and not the pump? Try a different gas station next time and see if the results are the same.

^^^ This! Sometimes I wonder if it is not our computers that are off but perhaps we are actually getting screwed a little bit at a time at the pump. I know they check up on these pumps, but how often and within what margin of error is acceptable?

I always fill up around the 20 gallons used mark with the 36 gallon tank (3.5 eco) and takes 21 to 22 to fill it up every time. I can imagine it being even more incorrect once you get to 30 gallons used. It also causes the indicated mpg to be off by a couple of mpg.

My experience is that the computer is off no matter what pump or station I use. The only constant seems to be that the more my truck idles, the farther off the computer is (almost as if it does not count fuel consumed while in (P)ark.
In the summer, it is usually fairly close. In the winter when I tend to sit in the (running) truck while waiting for my daughter's school bus, it is always off by more.

Most car companies use ethanol free to calculate the usage. The government also uses ethanol free when they do the MPG testing.
My old 4Runner would be spot on with ethanol free. Running 10% ethanol would drop the actual MPG by 10% vs. the computer.

I agree that the ethanol has some effect but I have a mustang 5.0 that has the same mpg display as the 2.7 posted above and it reads very accurate. Usually gallons used to pump gallons is within a couple of tenths. Now it holds much less fuel but even multiplied its nothing close to being as far off as my truck.

Twice now my truck reads 21mpg on the dash. And after I pump gas and do the math I'm getting 18. Gallons used is incorrect on the dash, thus the mpg reading is higher. I do combined driving to work very easy on the peddle, and I'm getting no where near what's advertised. I'm not happy with false advertising on better fuel economy in trucks. The estimated mpg prevented us from buying a tahoe. And now I'm getting 18 mpg. Silverado was the same why when I had a rental. Lie
