Default Adding Sirius XM

Thanks for the continued support...

I recently got Sirius XM for my truck but just came to the realization that my truck does not have the required AUX input jack for the XM radio. Nor does my trim have the XM built into the factory radio/headunit. I am at a loss as far as how to connect my XM radio to my truck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

BlueJean

You'll need to purchase a cd player/am fm tuner/ sirius tuner, from a XLT, or above trim level...

Also, you'll need a oem Sirius antenna, if your truck doesn't have one. its a small black oval piece over the front passenger side roof.

Most Sirius radios will let you get your programing through FM radio. Check the instructions but if memory serves correctly, there are 4 or 5 FM frequencies you can set and then listen through your radio. No additional cost. Also works if you can power the Sirius with any FM radio in range.

What does your radio look like? No aux port anywhere? Seems crazy that they make a pickup without even a port.

It's not the cheapest option, but if you want something integrated that's not the Ford system, look into the VAIS GSR-041. It plugs in to the USB port and appears as an iPod but tunes XM.

I have the Sirius Stratus 7 radio. I thought about the USB drive but I have the center console and the only usb drive is in the hidden cubby in front of the cup holders. I'm trying to create a clean/factory install without a bunch of wires everywhere.

I thought about the FM tuning but I have heard bad reviews about the signal and quality of sound from doing it that way. The only other option I thought about was trying to find a Bluetooth adapter and run it off bluetooth but again, unsure what quality of sound would be like.

Sirius sound quality through the OEM units is garbage. It's like listening to AM radio. If you're trying to get decent sounding music through Sirius, your best bet would be to go with an aftermarket unit and antenna. If you're looking talk radio or sports, you'll probably be satisfied with the outcome using OEM parts.

I"d look for a bluetooth option. Sound quality isn't bad.

I just had this issue posted herelast week. I was in the same boat. No puck, no satellite on my 2016 XL. I got the internet radio streaming from SiriusXM on my phone and just connect to the truck via bluetooth. It sounds great. The only issue is you need to control the channel from your phone while using it in the truck. Not a big deal since you can program favorites in your phone while in the XM app. SiriusXM has a deal going right now for 6 months for $30, then like $19.50 per month including fees and taxes after that. Its a good deal. Very happy with mine plus it now allows me to have satellite radio whereever I have my phone including rental cars, work, airplanes, etc.
