Anyone swapped out their keyed ignition for a push-button start? Cant seem to find a thread on the topic?

I'm going to look into getting this on my 2019 XLT 5.0.

Yes, it has been discussed somewhere on here. I think one of the biggest issues is the mechanical interlock that stops the wheel from turning based on key twist position. This is more than the boxes and software to enable the start sequence.

If you're just wanting the coolness of push-button start, you can tap the start circuit from the lock cylinder and wire a push button to it. Still requires a key turned to the run position to start.

Other members and I investigated this and realized it would take a lot of wiring and money to make this happen. You're better off with going with a third party solution.

Only reason I asked was because I had an Escape loaner with push button while my truck was in for leaky cab. It was nice to not reach for keys while I was in the loaner.

It can be done, I've converted my XLT to Push Button Start. Unless you have access to IDS, don't waste your time. As part of the conversion, you need to swap BCMs, which will require you to program new keys and do a parameter reset. Both of those are beyond Forscan's capabilities right now.
