Default Adding pro trailer backup assist to 2016

I've searched but could find anything

Here's the deal, I ordered a 2016 5.0 lariat sport with the fx4, sport with the tow package as in my signature but because I live in the Cayman Islands I will be getting an export model that does not include the pro trailer backup assist for some reason.

I'm just wondering if this will be like the guys adding the brake controller where the harness is hidden behind the dash and all they have to do is add the switch and then activated by the dealer...?

I really hope this is the case because my wife would find this really handy when she is launching or retrieving the boat for me.

Come on guys, I know you can figure something out. Once I get my truck I will check to see if the harness is there and report back. Thanks

Why not order it from factory? The system looks awfully complicated to be retrofitted. You are after all driving the truck, in reverse with the turn of a ****.

I am sure those features are available globally. I know the Lobos have it (LATAM market)

Order the truck or backup assist? I'm sure either way they would have told me to order from my nearest dealer, which we only have one. On the order form it is not even listed on the sheet.

Below is the Central America and Caribbean order form

Below is the US order form with the backup assist and also the South America/Caribbean order form and its no where to be found.

When the sails manager submitted the order for my truck, he tried entering the code for the backup assist (53A and 47E) and the system wouldn't take it, so that means it's definitely not available for export for some reason.

Ah you're Caribbean market.

Thats very interesting, I am not sure why it was not available outside of the US market.

I would assume buying one in the mainland and then boating it over would be too expensive?

Buying it out of Florida would cost me about another $10k whether I brought it in or even my dealer for that matter. They seem to get a really good deal on them by getting directly from ford.

The PTBA isn't worth $10k more for a free option when you get the tow package. don't need it that bad lol

What about learning to back a trailer up? It's really not that hard to do, esp if you have the 360 cameras. To me the Pro Trailer backup **** is more of a gimmick to me and really not that much of a feature. People have been backing up trailers for many many years without needing a **** to turn.

And people drove cars without power steering for years, what's your point?
