Adding pro trailer backup assist to 2016

I would think your 502A would at least have PTBA wiring incorporated into the dash harness. It's an option with the trailer packages and there aren't a lot of different main dash harnesses at the 502A level. Most of the ones I've found that are different are mainly to do with the 360 camera option or not.
I think for a 502A adding PTBA would be installing the PTBA hardware (dash control) and then module changes....but don't quote me on that.
If you want, you can send me your vin and i'll try and poke around to see what's different between yours and mine. I'm also max tow 502a, but I have PTBA.
I'll dig up the system diagram from the service manual tomorrow and post it here. Should give an idea of what modules probably need so e changes.
One a side note, my lane mirror should be here this week.....

A bit of quick reading in the FSM before heading to work seems to indicate there may be lots of module changes required. Park assist also requires lots of module changes to add, so this may be similar.
Looks like abs, ipc, pscm, trm and maybe bcm and IPMB. There's also reference to a message from the SCCM, but that's probably just a status and not necessarily needing an asbuilt change.
Those modules also might only be a small (or no change) in most cases. Can't tell until a PTBA truck asbuilt files are compared to one without PTBA. This is probably a little bit out of my depth at this point, Livinitup could probably sniff it out though. I'm no where near as familiar with this stuff as he is....yet.
Also looks to be an alignment procedure necessary if camera is disturbed:
Those "mats" that are mentioned are a special tool that needs to be ordered from ford. Kind of a checkerboard graphic on a long mat you lay on the ground.
I do believe I remember seeing a calibration option in IDS last time I was in there. So if you've got the rear cam already, don't disturb it!
Several modules communicate with each other to control the PTBA system functions. The TRM reads the PTBA control **** and button analog signals and sends them on the MS-CAN through the GWM to the PSCM on the HS-CAN2. The rear parking aid camera captures the trailer target sticker image on the trailer and sends the data to the IPMB over two video signal circuits. The IPMB reads the video signal from the rear parking aid camera and determines the tracking status and trailer angle based on the entered dimensions if the trailer target sticker is detected. The trailer target sticker data is then sent from the IPMB to the PSCM over the HS-CAN2. The
PSCM uses all the data it receives from each interfacing module to control overall PTBA system operation.
The following are outputs of the PTBA controller software in the PSCM:
Request for warning or instructions to the driver to be displayed in the IPC and centerstack infotainment display.
Steering wheel position to achieve the desired trailer curvature (indicated by the **** position).
Braking and powertrain speed limiting requests.
Activation and deactivation of the PTBA system.

Also looks to be an alignment procedure necessary if camera is disturbed:
PTBA Camera Alignment
The IPMB must align the camera image to the vehicle. As the camera alignment is very sensitive, the alignment process is necessary any time a camera (360 degree view camera system) or the rear parking aid camera (rear only parking aid camera system) and any component that a camera is attached to is removed or adjusted.
The alignment process is completed using a diagnostic scan tool and the camera calibration mats.
Refer to: Pro Trailer Back Up Assist Camera Alignment (413-13D Parking Aid - Vehicles With: Trailer Back Up
Assist (TBA), General Procedures).

do you think that would include removing the tailgate and reinstalling?

Must resist starting this project... I think I looked before and there wasn't a pigtail available but I will check again.

looks like the trailer module (trm) will need 5 more pins that go over to the pro trailer backup assist (ptba). I don't see a pigtail for the ptba though

I am going to try to take a crack at this. I started to source some parts...
