Default new controller feature

For those that purchased the updated replacement controller 19-04280-STA did you also buy the switch and harness for the override feature that the old controller didn't have?

This would basically give us oem functionality to toggle the boards up or down.

The switch is only $34. together with the harness comes to around $50 I believe.

What are you lubricating the joints with? Mine operate perfectly, but I'm all about preventative maintenance.
I'm using a product called Boeshield which was developed by Boeing. Used it on my boats and always had excellent results. The main thing is if you live where there is a lot of road sand/salt is used it's imporant to spray down all moving joints. The steps can and probably will bind up if you don't spray them a couple times over the winter. Bottom line I've never had any problems except for winter time. A quick spray and everything was good again.........

"Boeshield T-9® gives superior corrosion protection and waterproof lubrication ... Whatever the application, whatever the conditions, you can count on T-9 to work"

Thanks Husker. No salt in Hot Lanta, but plenty of mud and dirt. I shot some silicon at the joints since it was handy. I'll look at that stuff. Marine grade is usually best...

Just installed my factory power boards using the Amp module. Pretty easy install everything works perfect. I opted to not buy the override switch.

I didn't splice the wires I did what someone said before and just connected the Amp harness directly to the factory connector.... However I don't like how it fits so I think I'm going to cut the Amp harness and buy the factory connector's pigtail for a more solid connection.

If you're going to spend $1000-$1200 on the Amp boards you might as well just go factory boards with Amp harness and module you might even save some money but you end up with a factory look.

Next I'm gonna get some led strips to illuminate the boards. The harness already comes prewired for such purposes.

I didn't buy the override switch and harness but I think I'm going to modify the wiring to make the overhead switches serve as the override.

gbk -- I agree. I don't like the plug fit with the other pins just open, my plan was to RTV that plug to seal it up.

Because the wiring was already there, I added LED strips just like you want to. Cost me $9. A damn sight better than the $80 AMP wants for their modules. The light output is perfect. I saw that F150leds or whatever have full-length strips, but they're WAAAAAY too bright IMO.

The LED's:

You don't have to. Its there when you need it. My kids love to go up and down it. But if you can profit by selling it and get a regular tailgate, why not?!

Oh remember. Resale value. Just keep it if i were you.

Update us on how it goes! Excited for you. Here 's mine painted.

Dude, your truck is sick! Love it! I recently bought a set of OEM power boards from a salvage yard for my '15 Lariat. They came off of an '18 Ranch King. Thank you for the write up on adding these boards! How is everything holding up? I noticed you painted the chrome trim piece. Did you remove it then paint or just paint inside the boards? Thank you!

Thanks man, gotta appreciate that! PRB still working great, its been on for a year now.. If it wasn't for FX4's help, i wouldn't be able to say the right things with Amp Research!😂😂

These are just painted on, masking tapes tucked on the upper and lower parts of the chrome. I guess you can take them apart, but i didn't took chance to take them apart... long story short, they didn't hold up the Canadian winter. Power washer and daily use, then they chipped right off!

So i stripped everything off and placed Vinyl on them. Metallic and almost the same color. It's holding up pretty good! But the plan is to lay some Xpel film before winter comes.

Have to agree. Other than wheels, tires and suspension these are a top 10 upgrade.
