I have found a great 2016 truck at a decent price. The only thing it doesn't have is navigation. It does have the sync 3 and 8 inch center screen. Everything is there except nav.

Aside from buying a garmin unit (which I have), is it easy to add nav - yes, I know it will cost money.

I did search for this question but only got variations on it.

 

The only way to upgrade to NAV on SYNC3 is to replace the APIM.

I was quoted 1200.

edit: i would wait for the 2.0 update and use your phone also.

As of now you can use your phone with google maps or apple maps and it will give turn by turn directions over the radio.

 

Sync 3 will work with Android auto (eventually). I would think you could use the map on your phone,, if you use Android.

Pair your phone to Bluetooth - at least with Sync 3, if listening to a Audio over Bluetooth it definately will speak the directions - and it may open the Bluetooth audio channel and override radio or other even if my listening to BT - need to check that tomorrow myself.

 

Yea in settings under navigation settings toggle "play voice over bluetooth" and "play as bluetooth call" if you are on the radio it will show as a phone call when directions are needed and then disconnect.

in apple maps you toggle something called hfp? maybe. i can't say right now because the option only shows up when connected to the truck.

 

You can add factory navigation with a module. Look on YouTube, search for it.

 

This "module" is the APIM, as stated by uood8. The factory NAV is part of the APIM.

 

Can you not forscan NAV on sync 3 like you were able to on MFT (sync 2)

 

1200 you can get a nice Garmin NUVI for way less than that and have free maps for life. I have the NAV in my truck and it useless...

I use my Garmin in my F150 with NAV. LOL
