Default Adding Home Link

I have a 2018 XLT 302a that does not have the homelink in the visor. I would like to add it. Has anyone does this before?

I tried to do a search but didnt find anything.

Thanks

Prior to my current truck (that has as you wish) I always mounted a push button. I simply open the remote, soldered basic thin pair wire to each side that makes a connection inside, and wired to this pushbutton. I'd mount pushbutton in easy access area, and no one ever knew what it was for except me. Works great (still on wifes car and kids) Just throwing an idea your way, because I'm sure the homelink needs a power sources, where-as my MacGyver uses the gdo remote and battery. Simply velcro GDO under dash.

Edit: I use these ones https://www.ebay.com/itm/38264957119...oAAOSw~bhb~tRv

or use these

I have. Bought the homelink visor from car-part.com and ordered the pigtail from Tasca. The pigtail comes with bare positive/negative leads. Ground the negative and tap a switched fuse for the positive.

Just run the positive and negative wire over and tap into the overhead console power. Very simple!

You bought a Mazda rear view mirror and installed it in your F-150? Interesting. Wife has a VW that she did the same with, although that was a VW to VW. How hard is the install into the Ford?

Very easy if you have experience with simple wiring. Just cut the Ford plug off the harness upstream of the mirror about 3-4” and then soldered in the Mazda harness. Here’s what it looks like, by far my favorite mod. Homelink, frameless, auto dim… looks much more modern too.

Price has increased naturally, but still worth it IMO.
