I had the dealer add the factory remote start. Has the smaller key fob...its the "one way" remote start so it's nothing fancy. Works well. Can start the truck from at least 50 yards away (that's the farthest I've tried). Also starts from inside the house when the truck is sitting outside the garage. Only negative in my opinion is that you have to carry a 2nd keyfob around but it's small...approximately the diameter of a quarter.

You are “clearly confused” that your “only choice” is the “originalcopy” as mentioned with “noticeable absence” of coming from the factory. /ˌäksəˈmôrˌän/

The Ford plug and play system works great, the only problem is it has to be a separate fob and can't be integrated into the key. The fob is really small and works really far away it says 1000 feet the farthest I have tried is 300.

What's the difference between the "one way" and the "bi-directional"?

The bi-directional remote lights up when the truck is running. One way does not

Default Questions on programming

On my 15, I had the dealer install the bidirectional at the time of purchase (late December). I noticed a few quirks with it, such as setting the hvac before I turned it off the night before did not do anything...it always blows out of all the vents. Today I noticed that using the remote start will not bring on the AC, even though I engaged it before I left the truck. It was blowing hot Air. Also, I can remote start the truck with the doors open, I can open the hood in remote start mode, and the brake pedal will not shut the remote start mode off. Does this sound like a fragged module, or programming issue?

Did he install the Ford remote or a different brand? If Ford did he update the computer so it knows it has the remote start now? At a minimum it shouldn't start without first locking the doors (and I can't believe that the check isn't there to make sure they are closed) and I know that all factory remote starts have a hood switch - it's on the left side of the hood - hood must be closed or it won't start. Same with Remote Access - it won't start if it can't lock and the hood is closed.

I'm thinking you've got a bad install unless he went completely 3rd party and they rigged it some way. Does not seem safe.

Also - if he used the Ford OEM and they properly programmed the computer do you have 2 options for the Heat/AC - you should have "Auto" and "Last Settings". I use and love Auto - I can start it in the morning in TX with outside temps of 50 and the heat will come one - get ready to go home from work in the afternoon with temps of 85 outside and the AC will come on.

Supposedly it was done at the dealer, which I think it was because they tore the shop apart when I pointed out they lost my key while it was back there.

Confirmed again that the doors can be open, the hood can be open, the hvac doesn't set, and the brake shut off does not function the way it is supposed to....oh well, I'll add it to the few other things I need addressed

Hey guys. Just got a F150 Lariat 2016 with auto start on it

I want to add the remote option. The dealer told me it was included on my car which was wrong.... Due to the incorrect information we agreed to split it. Here is my question which I can't find an answer for. If I install the remote unit so I can start with my phone then does the original one on my key still work? I don't like if the new one comes with a new fob that makes my original autostart not work.

Hope the question makes sense. Thanks!
