Adding an E-locker after purchasing..practical or not?
All of the left over 2016 trucks that I am interested in have the standard diff in them. I am looking at 4x4 XL's and was just wondering if it would be practical to have factory e-locker installed after the purchase and about how much to do it?
Some great pricing going on now with the 2016's but nothing with an E-locker in it at all. I do a bit of off road ghost town roads exploring and I am thinking that the e-locker just might come in handy.
Any thoughts?

what rear end do they have, 9.75" ?
If the truck doesnt come with the wiring harness and **** etc it could end up being costly to add E locker. If you have the 9.75 in a truck there should be decent after market LSDs and auto lockers available

I've seen a lot of these threads discussing the locker. I am now the proud owner of my very first truck a 2016 4x4 with Elocker, but I'm new to the concept.
I know what the Elocker does, but I don't understand the advantage of it over 4 x 4. Can somebody explain to me why having the elocker engaged during 4 x 4 mode is still preferable to just 4 x 4 mode?

So 4wd isn't truly 4wd then. Man I gotta get out more, it's amazing how little I know about trucks 😳

4 wheel drive with decent tires is usually just fine but sometimes the NW rainy/rocky/muddy ground can be slippery and I can use all the help I can get. With a 30K budget for a new truck not many have the elocker in them. Doing the best I can.
I've got the e-locker on my lariat.
Suffice to say, the price I paid for this truck means "off road" will be open fire roads or a cut across an open level field at worse.
No "boggin", "crawlin" or "paint tree scrapin" for this mega buck truck.
E-locker seems pretty pointless for me. Can't use it on paved roads, slow speed only (under 20 if I recall the manual correctly), etc.
It was an option included on with the truck I found, since I wanted the max trailer towing package. But a Limited slip would probably be better for what I am going to use the truck for. Daily driving and towing our 9000lb travel trailer.
For a work truck on a muddy job site it might make more sense...just don't forget to turn it off again when you hit the road.
