Adding 10-way power seats to XL
#131
Power seat or seats from a donor truck, some 12 gauge wire, crip on wire terminals (I used spade terminals) and and add a circuit adapter. Pull the old seats, run power and ground wires to seat locations, swap the cushions over if desired, put the add a circuit in the fuse panel (I used the tailgate release fuse location), install power seats, connect the wires.

I have a 2015 XLT with what I assume are the 8-way seats (everything is powered except the recline; it is also not heated). I really want the ability to recline, as the manual recline has too big a gap between clicks and I can't get comfortable.
I see a local junkyard has a 10-way driver seat from a 2016; would this install be plug n play basically, with no other wiring required?
Thanks!

I bought a harness for lucas8888 from the forum to upgrade to the Sync 3 bezel. Saved me time instead of repinning. You can do this without added harness just need to follow the pin update in the Sync 3 upgrade thread.
The Bezel are same for connectors so that is not an issue. Just make sure you do not purchase an dual climate bezel as they will not work properly on a XLT or XL.
The seat heat buttons are controlled through the FCIM. The OEM heaters use a sense line back to the FCIM. I assume this is to monitor voltage or current based on setting? Either way an aftermarket kit will not work using the OEM buttons unless another element is found with a sense line. Also, Ford does not sell the OEM heater elements to add these to your current seats. Instead, Ford sells the entire cushion with heater element at about $300 each (total $1200!!!) for the front seats.
In my old tacoma I did a simple aftermarket ebay seat heaters wired to an ignition source in the truck. Very simple install to do even on a F150. I only went my route with power seats to allow my wife to drive truck and have lumbar support.

Yes, should be. The 10 way my have heat, but you don't need to plug in those connectors.

Can some one provide guidance on doing the seat swap into a 2012 xlt non powered seats from a 2011 fx4 premium seat, both drivers and passenger are powered.
Ok I got the passenger to move, but the lumbar doesn't work. Any ideas what gives it power and ground? And fir some reason the controls are reversed. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Driver's seat did not work with power to 21 and ground at 16, can some help with memory bypass.

Really appreciate the help, thank you.
I'm pretty handy, but most of this stuff once we get too technical is above my pay grade, and thus I'm having the help of my buddy who's a pretty experienced dealer tech (just not on Fords). Anyway, after a few hours of browsing any schematics we could find online, and without knowing what year seat we got from LKQ (so lots of wiring colors weren't correct to what the diagrams show), he was able to bypass the module, and the power seats work. Essentially he had to bring 3 powers and 2 grounds to certain pins on the module, and it works (As well as the power/ground to the switch module on the side of the seat). The can-bus is not connected and didn't need to be for the power. So at this point the truck doesn't know that a power seat is installed, so no warnings or issues.
The heated seat connector coming from the seat is a 4 pin/4 wire connector. As per other instructions in this thread, we are planning to run 3 wires to the FCIM (2 sense and 1 power), plus the ground (not ran to the FCIM). I've enabled the heated/cooled seat buttons on Forscan, so hopefully that will work. Any thoughts on if this would work or if that must go through the DSM? (I'm not going to mess with trying to get the cooled seats workings.). I'm heading up there next week and we'll finish that part.
Lots of work to get this type of 10-way seat working. I don't even know what trim level a cloth, 10-way heated/cooled seat comes on. Is that available on XLT? It's almost as if we're trying to put a King Ranch seat into the XL. Definitely wasn't as easy as others have had in this thread.
My wife asks...is it worth it? I told her, typical of every project I get myself into...it's always worth it up front, and once you get far enough there's no turning back anyway. So yeah, it's worth it. Love the STX package for our work truck, and it's a pretty well loaded STX at that. After a bunch of mods it'll be the perfect truck for a long time, so worth it. Mostly done with the mods, just need the heated seat working, and heated steering wheel will be next. That'll finish it off.

Can you tell me what was actually done to the module?

10 way with module
I bought two beautiful leather 10 way seats. i was wondering if anyone could offer some more insight into hooking up the power seat in an xl. I saw many posts and have tried several times to get these seats running to no avail. I only want the power seats. no heat. my seats have the dsm power module. I tried to power that up and got nothing. what other wires do i need to connec?. any help would be great. I'm pretty close to giving up. I asked kattruck and he had a mechanic buddy do it but couldn't offer me more info than was already on the forum. thanks in advance... ken
Kattrucks mechanic called me and I got both seats working. The driver seat is way more complicated but simple once you know how. I hope to post pics and instructions soon.

What Color Wires Did u pin to get the seats working don’t care so much for the heated and cooled option I just want them functional and can’t seem to get power to the seats.

Did that and got the passenger side working but not the drivers side. I think I have to run separate wires to the module on the seat but don’t know which wires are power and negative.
