6R80 Major Issues. Need Advice ASAP
#11
What service has been done to this trans previously? It should have had the trans fluid and filter changed....not flushed. Sounds to me like there is material in the fluid and it is messing with the solenoids. This trans is 100% solenoid controlled from the ECU and there is an update when replacing the Lead to keep the solenoid terminals from bridging. IMO I would install an updated Lead Frame and perform the updates, reset the trans ECU and go from there. The update should be done anyway and it will probably fix the issue.

Fluid/filter (pan drop) around 65k miles. No metal shavings, but fluid was dark. Never had temp issues, nor codes. I am being told pcm can not be remitted, drop truck off, and let them diagnose further. The fact of the matter a PCM update made my truck un-drivable and no one can explain how that happened. Something that was supposed to help only made my truck worse.

ok, so a little late on the fluid change for this trans. the computer learned to shift for the condition of the trans, maybe it needed more line pressure and resetting it put it back to new condition, not sure. It will take time for it to relearn where it was at but it sounds like it is not safe to drive like it is. I still go with my original comment to replace the Lead Frame with an updated one and yes they are hard to find and you will probably have to put in a Dorman one for now but at least they are cheap, like $150. There are full OEM valve bodies with new Lead Frames out there for $550 which isn't bad. I myself wouldn't go the dealer route but that is just me. find a shop that is good with this trans and take it there, I wouldn't take it to a shop that does just any transmission but one the specializes in Fords....or do it myself which is what I would do. good luck.
