2018 F150 5.0 engine cover
Something that I have been meaning to ask for a while, is there supposed to be an engine cover on the 5.0L engines? All of my 2.7 and 3.5 EB had engine covers. Just wondering if the PO took it off or if it doesn’t come with one. The valve covers look to have the appropriate mounting points. Thanks.

Covers were deleted some time ago.
They may look nice to some but hold to much heat, especially in the intake manifold area and have a lot of effect in holding heat soak after shut-down from heat rising to the top as exhaust cools and engine general heat slowly cools and with no forced airflow after shut-down..
I have long time experience with this by using a 10" Electric fan, mounted in front area of the A/C Condenser that cooled the engine bay after shut-down from a thermostat set at 180* in the bay area.
In the highest summer temps, the fan would run about 5 minutes after shutdown.
The long term results of this was stopping the loss of Ignition Coil failures and other parts such as rubber hoses from getting hard cracking and who knows what other benefits there was. That engine is still good at 321 k miles over 15+ years.
On the 5L Generations from first production, the covers don't fit every Gen due to changes as the years went by.
One example of this is the 2018 with the high pressure fuel pump in the middle of the passenger side valve cover. There may be, but I don't know of a cover that was made to account for this from the factory.
Good luck.

Thanks Bluegrass, my 16 and 18 EB F150's both had one and my 19 Expedition EB has one as well. Just seemed strange that the mounting points look to be on the 18 5.0L but no cover.

I recently bought a 19 with the 2.7 and it wasn’t on mine. I figured the PO removed it. Looking at the points mentioned in the previous post, I’m not going to add one now. I can see how it could trap heat and since I’m in Florida, anything that could help not trap heat sounds like a good idea to me.
