Just to chime in...I think my 2016 Platinum does the same thing in 4A. I haven't noticed it the few times I've used 4H. I'm considering it normal and feel fine with that because I have a warranty and extended warranty.

Same here. '16 Platinum. Had my truck for ~2 1/2 months. Now that it's getting a bit colder I've been switching to 4A once in while, especially in the rain. Definitely feel more vibration when in 4A, mostly at the gas pedal. My last truck was a Chevy, and I would leave it in 4A all winter with no noticeable difference in feel.

2012 and I feel the vibration slightly in 4A, no vibration in 4H, not unusual from what I have heard and seen.

i too had a chevy with the 4A. From what I understand it's a completely different system. Our F150s throw power to the the front end when in 4A, hence the different feel than 2 wheel drive. When the system detects slippage it locks the IWEs at the hubs giving it the traction it needs.

Chevy did the 4A work through the transfer case sending power to the front when it detected slippage.

Since the transfer case is directly under the drivers feet, its not surprising that you are feeling some vibration when 4X4 is engaged... I don't think its a problem... after all when in that mode you have all sorts of moving, powered parts that weren't doing anything before.

You guys should've felt my '91 Jeep in 4x4!

How did you get a service rep involved? I am wondering if I may eventually have this checked out, and I want minimal hassle...

I got in touch with Ford Service in Dearborn, MI. They work with the dealer to make sure there is no BS....I think it keeps them honest.

I put mine in 4A last night. There's a bit of a vibration felt in the floor, but wouldn't that be expected? You've now got a driveshaft and transfer case turning under your feet. From what I've seen Ford did not put much for insulation or sound dampening materials in the roof, doors, or floor. There's a thread on sound insulating that shows what's in each spot, and if there's any it's minimal.

I've had at least a dozen 4WD trucks, Rams, Tundras, even one 2006 F-150 Lariat....none of them have had any vibration from the transfer case and front drive shaft. Do they drive different, absolutely...no question. You can definitely tell when you're in 4WD. This is something I have never felt before. It's almost like an out of balance drive shaft or binding of some sort.

My last one was 4x4 as well, granted didn't have 4A. I didn't notice any vibration, but I was also always on AT's or MT's, so a vibration wouldn't be felt really. My theory is the previous years have had insulation and such under the carpet, whereas these really don't have all that much. The insulation could've been soaking up the vibration and therefore be why it wasn't felt in other vehicles. I could only feel the vibration in my feet, and not in any other component, which is why I'm wondering if it's just a lack of insulation causing what feels to be abnormal behavior. I could be totally off base though.
