I just noticed the same thing a couple of days ago. Slight growling and vibration while accelerating in 4A and 4H. It goes away as soon as I go back to 2H. I have been driving Ford 4WD trucks since the late 70's and my 2016 has more noise and vibration than any of my old trucks. I am due for an oil change so i was going to have them check it out on my next visit.

Same thing here, '15 Platinum. I'm going to assume its just a "normal" ford thing that is within their specs.

I haven't messed with the 4x4 system yet. Only had it a month and haven't had a need. My understanding of 4A is it only kicks in if there's wheel slip, so wouldn't it not be engaged from a stop? I could be wrong though, I've never dealt with 4A, my last truck had 2H, 4H, and 4L. But it sounds like I need to go see what mine does.

When I first noticed the issue I was driving over a snow covered pass, when the roads got slick I clicked over to 4a and started to accelerate and immediately noticed a vibration under my feet, heaving steering with what I can only define as a fealing of binding in the drivetrain. I pulled over to make sure something didn't break it was that abnormal to me. I had just come from an Avalanche with the same 4A setup and had driven the same route a couple of wreaks earlier in the same conditions with that truck. Ford did say it sounded like abnormal condition, but after driving another similarly equipped truck which was not nearly as noticeable I pushed the issue further. I have probably 1k on the new case and it still has a vibration but much more "normal" to me. On another note I noticed a major improvement in the shift points after the fix although this could be updated programming. Again, if it doesn't feel right look into it. Nothing worse than having issues like this after the warranty is up.

I doubt it. I think it's normal, the dealer probably will to.

I have always had the vibration in 4A since day 1. I haven't had it checked out since this is my DD and I don't really want to be left with no truck. I had assumed it was normal, but if it's a bad transfer case I may want to have it checked out. I just passed 10,000 on my 2015.

FWIW, my truck is silent in 4A, as well as 4H and 4L aside from the click/clunk when engaging. I've run in all modes on sugar sand, as well as flat, straight, dry pavement.

I'm not rubbing it in, you'd just think by reading this thread that all trucks shudder with the front hubs engaged.

No, it just helps us to realize that our are not "normal"....I have gotten a Ford Service rep involved to minimize the BS at the dealership.

Mine seems relatively quite as well - in all modes. I suppose quite is subjective, but comparing it to other 4x4 trucks I've owned, it's quite. No issues so far. Almost 10k miles. Built March 2016.
