3 Days To Diagnose?
I'm nearing the end of my extended warranty and want to have Ford fix anything that might be wrong. Just before cold weather season I thought the AC was getting less efficient.
Figuring now was a good time to take it in I called to set an appointment at the dealer. They said that a diagnosis could take up to 3 days! Is this for real? I only have one vehicle and can't be without it that long especially if that's not including repair time.
Thoughts?

The AC just didn't seem to be getting as cold as it was at the start of the warm weather season. I'd like them to check charge level, and proper operation. Then if they find a leak or other problem we can go from there.
I'm ok with a diagnostic charge. Not so much with it taking (up to) 3 days.

I'd rather have the diagnosis take time than be done incorrectly.
Speed and accuracy when diagnosing issues, especially vague issues like AC not getting cold, are frequently opposing desires.

Yeah, my dealer does the same thing, but they’re just more honest about their process. They take 3 days to get to my truck, then they will have my diagnosis within an hour or two. Your dealer won’t be looking at it for three days, I’m sure.
Last time I had to take mine in, I asked if I could just drop it off on the 3rd day after my appointment so I wouldn’t be without a vehicle and they told me it had to be on site to be “in line” to be looked at. If you have another dealer nearby, I would check and see what their policy is. I won’t go back to my local dealer again.

In these times, three days is not bad, but definitely not good customer service.
Had mine in late last year for a "scheduled" appointment (under warranty) to look at the driveline. Seven days later they got to it. Working as designed they say.
Just last week, I had it in to have the thermostat replaced (stuck open). Again, a "scheduled" appointment. The diagnosis/confirmation
of a thermostat issue and replacement took six days.
Since it was under warranty, they provided a rental car at no cost to me. Maybe they can provide the same for the OP. Good luck.

Huge demand and a labor shortage. Service departments were bad enough in normal times, most are extraordinarily bad now. They have no choice but to overestimate times in order to set customer expectations. It's not just Ford, it's all brands. For my BMWs, I have to schedule basic services out 2+ months with an appointment and they usually still don't get to my cars 2-3 days after. Last oil change took 5 days. At least they still give loaners though.
