Will this map update be free to us?

 

Last update they tried to charge me, so no more updates for me I guess. I don't use it anyway.

 

Check in on Monday with your VIN and the web page will tell you. When I bought my truck new, it included 2 free nav updates. I suspect most if not all trucks of this generation have used their freebies.

I don't use the nav on my truck, or my cars for that matter....ever. So much easier and convenient to tell Siri to get directions to anywhere, and not even take my hands off the wheel.

 

I think I have used my free map updates. Well, I used one of them, the other must have been the first owner. I did read on this forum about a 3rd party map update that works very well, but I haven't tried it yet.

 

Though I really don’t use Sync anymore, I doubt I’ll be upgrading the nav maps if it comes with new Sync software. The last couple of iterations have been riddled with bugs. Mine finally just loads wireless CarPlay and doesn’t ask a ton stupid questions every key cycle.

 

Map and Sync updates are normally separate. The only one I've encountered that combined a Sync and map update was the upgrade to 3.4 in 2020. I highly doubt we will see any more Sync updates for this generation F150, and since my Sync works flawlessly now, I don't want to mess with it. I turned off my truck WiFi some time ago.
