Trying to upgrade the maps in my 2020 f-150. Following the instructions to the letter but I think I must be doing something wrong. When I plug the usb drive in, it tells me that it’s not supported and that I need to remove it. Anyone seen this before? I formatted using exFAT as the instructions stated and have tried from both my Mac and my PC using a high quality 128gb sandisk drive. I don’t have another usb drive to try and begrudge buying one for the single task of updating maps and I’m definitely not paying the $40 they are asking for a preconfigured USB drive.

 

The update system is very finicky.....I tried three different USBs before giving in and buying their $40.00 USB

 

Your 128 maybe to big. I've used the same 32 gb usb drive since the first update on my 2016. I used the same flash drive to update my 2020.

 

I found the following post by a mac user, followed their guidance about using MBR and it worked! Not sure how to fix this one windows. Will do my map update on Tuesday since i have a 2-hour drive planned.

Are the map updates worth it? I was surprised at the cost and with android auto I don't think I'll update but I'm curious on your thoughts behind the decision.

 

I don't don't think it's worth it.

Yet, my ocd will not allow me to ignore it if an update is available.

I did find that after the last update, the nav in the truck actually showed a new street that was not on my Garmin.

 

it was free for me, so I figured why not. Would never pay for them through, not when I have Waze, Google maps, Apple Maps. Guess it’s useful for when you’re out in the boonies and have no cell reception.

 

I had the same thing happen to me. Had the truck running for an hour and a half burning gas with no install. This is the kind of crap that makes me face palm. Its 2020 for crying out loud.

 

your probably getting the same maps you already have. latest maps are 1-19

 

I've purchased a used '19 XLT with Navigation. How would I update it? Appreciate any help!
