Regarding this "adaptive learning drive cycle", is this invisible to the owner/driver? Does it require action on the owner/driver's part? After my tranny was replaced, I was just handed the keys and told 'have a nice day'.

Transmission replaced
Mine is a 2018 King Ranch 5.0 with 88k miles and all of the familiar symptoms mentioned in these threads; hard shifting; stuck in 7th gear; hunting for a gear, etc. Dealer tech said transmission replacement necessary. I asked about rebuilding and he told me that the seal kits necessary for rebuilding are on national backorder and no time frame for when they would be available! Also, rebuilding almost the same cost as replacement. He did mention that all of the transmissions he has rebuilt with these issues have been the slipped bushing in the CDF clutch/drum. So, mine is in for replacement...praying Ford has fixed the bushing issue.
Update: Dealer replaced transmission with remanufactured one (Dec 2022). I had a lengthy conversation with the service tech. He said he refuses to do any TSB updates when the symptoms are these described and what mine was having because it’s a waste of time and the customer would eventually return for same issues. The CDF CLUTCH DRUM is the culprit. He had rebuilt several and all were found to have the same problem with the drum slipping and damaging seals. The seals were on national back order and was causing the delay. Plenty of remans out there and hopefully Ford fixed the issue.

Yes dealer ordering parts which are on backorder and they intend on reassembling the trans. They may try to escalate it to an entire trans but that is 4 weeks out. I will be looking at 7-8 weeks with truck at dealer. Over 3 weeks in as of now.

I am wondering if that is why I'm on a "call back" list. Either there is literally some many of these that have issues or there is literally so many that have issues that they can't get the parts. Either way not good news. I pretty much only have the super harsh downshifting though. The valve body replacement fixed most of the other issues I was having. Including some of the ones you mentioned. Like harsh upshifting in normal mode and so on. I don't notice any issues in normal mode anymore actually. I thought they would flash mine and send me on my way. But no. They want to open up the transmission? Weird.
You want the $8500 work order billed to you?

No absolutely not. And I am not fighting them on anything. I am lucky that I have warranty and I will be letting things run their course. Just trying to get a feel for other people's experiences. The more I know the better. I will report the findings back on mine once I find out.

This sounds pretty spot on to my experience. Shift a few words around here and there. I am a few weeks behind you it sounds like. I haven't had too many days of owning the truck that I didn't either think or know something was wrong with the trans. I hope the end all be all is satisfactory for you. All delays aside, I am not sure what would make me feel better about it. Rebuild or new or refurbished whatever they would do? Good luck with it. I hope it goes faster than you are expecting. I will post initial results in a few weeks or so I suppose. Thanks everyone.

I drive a mix of city and highway. A few days ago, I started putting the truck in the Eco drive mode. Not a powerful feeling driving around, but the shifting is butter smooth...largely due to the transmission skipping 4th gear when it shifts out of 3rd LOL!
