Ugh. Good times. As I have already updated Khrazy in DM. For anyone else out there that runs across or follows this thread.
Dealership has had my truck since the 13th of this month. Got an update today that they did in fact get parts. I understand this as the seal kit and clutch drum assembly. They say as early as next week or as much as two weeks depending on if they found anything else and that they are "busy" or understaffed or both. Again. I have had flash, valve body overhaul, and valve body replacement already. Good luck to all with 10r80 issues. Especially Khrazy. 6 weeks is absolutely insane for a vehicle that I would say most are making payments on. I will be tuning the truck for the transmission alone once I am out of power train warranty. Unless tow/haul strategy is a nice as I think it could be stock? As to me besides the horrible downshifting, seams to be the best strategy fory driving style or preference. Time will tell I guess. I will update with a pic of the work order when the job is complete. Hopefully next week 🤞

I've experienced the heavy clunks when shifting into reverse and other minor oddities until last month when my 2108 diesel fx4 Lariat decided to shift from 7th to 1st and back. It also started to hesitate under load and hunt for gears. I drove it for a week and on my way home from work last night the 7th to 1st dance happened again and it threw the wrench warning.

As a side note, 3 weeks ago, I took my truck in for an oil change and had the dealer replace the transmission fluid. Thought it could only help. It only made it worse.

My local dealer is a crook; have had several bad experiences with them. Drove it 35 miles to the next town over and had them look into it. Told them 2 & 7th gear slipping or missing altogether.

The new dealer diagnosed my truck, and the service provider called me back at the end of the day and said that gears 2 and 7 were broken and that I needed a new transmission. Furthermore, all transmissions are back-ordered, and simply cannot buy one on the market at the moment. He said he found a remanufactured transmission in a different state. The total cost of repair will be ~$8500 ($2640 labor, $6,250 parts).

I love my truck. I've driven my family all over the West in it. We don't tow and I drive like a grandma, so I was blown away that this was not a computer module fix or other simple calibration, but instead a transmission replacement.

Doing a deep dive on the f150 forum and my story doesn't seem too out of line, but am wondering if I am getting the truth on this from the new dealer. If any community members care to weigh in I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

One day last week the trans stayed in 7th after stopping at a light and made some horrible noises when I went to accelerate on green as it tried to find 1'st or a comfortable gear. It mellowed out and I've been taking it easy since then. Still drivable.

Dealer diagnosed and found a bit of metal in fluid and I was told based on how it drives and sounds that it appears the forward drum is coming apart internally and that I need a new transmission. Truck has 73K miles and I'm out of warranty.

Quoted $8,500 for dealer to fully replace. Looking for insight from folks who may have had similar problems or thoughts on the situation. They haven't torn it apart yet and I'm doing due diligence shopping around but the thought of possibly parting ways with the truck and trading rather than fixing is NOT something I thought I'd have to consider with a truck this young, especially with the market the way it is now. Thanks in advance.
Just quoted $9200 to replace 2019 3.5 Ecoboost, 125k miles trans, had same issues.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. The good news, it has driven well since the new transmission. Call Ford too, and see if they will reimburse some of the costs; I've heard this is possible, but tbd. Best of luck.

Local dealership told me the same. Same mileage. Went to a mom and pop shop and saved over 2k...

I'd be at Inglewood transmission in SoCal if I was getting quotes like these. $6700 installed for their "street force" rebuild. They are top dog on the allison transmissions.

I wish there was progress on this lawsuit to push a RECALL of all 10R80 to replace the Faulty designed CDF drum and bushing that slips causing the failures

Thanks,
Brought my 2018 in and got quoted $9200 to drop tranny open and replace internal parts...Mine had 113K miles. I dont tow and drive like a grandma as well with the kids in the truck. Im at a lost at this point as I dont have that kind of money. This needs to be a recall with how many people have the same issues. I love my truck but come on FORD help us out!

FYI the Ford reman transmission complete is $5800, (wholesale price is 1k less) and has a 3 year unlimited miles warranty with new design CDF drum.
also Requires a new cooler for $200.

You're right, this needs to be a safety recall with this major defect that needs updated!

Default 2019 F150 |5.0L |10 speed |73k miles | transmission Woes

I bought my F150 used and I’ve got 73k. It had one owner and I doubt he ever towed since the hitch does not have any marks of a receiver being attached. I started experiencing a hard shift when letting off the accelerator going from 7th to 8th gear.
The dealer said the transmission fluid was clean and at the proper level and it did not have any codes. They did take in on a test ride and confirmed the same issue I was experiencing. They are recommending a new transmission at $11K. I would like to keep the truck but I’m thinking of taking it to a transmission shop to fix the problem. I’m just wondering if I’m throwing good money after bad. Has anyone got any recommendations.
