2019 10r80 10 Speed Transmission Replacement
Looking for some insight here. I took my '19 XLT into the dealer after having some noticeably harder shifting during normal driving, especially when cold. When trans warmed up to 170+ I still took it easy but saw fewer hard shifts. One day last week the trans stayed in 7th after stopping at a light and made some horrible noises when I went to accelerate on green as it tried to find 1'st or a comfortable gear. It mellowed out and I've been taking it easy since then. Still drivable.
Dealer diagnosed and found a bit of metal in fluid and I was told based on how it drives and sounds that it appears the forward drum is coming apart internally and that I need a new transmission. Truck has 73K miles and I'm out of warranty.
Quoted $8,500 for dealer to fully replace. Looking for insight from folks who may have had similar problems or thoughts on the situation. They haven't torn it apart yet and I'm doing due diligence shopping around but the thought of possibly parting ways with the truck and trading rather than fixing is NOT something I thought I'd have to consider with a truck this young, especially with the market the way it is now. Thanks in advance.

I have a '19 2.7 XLT that just had the transmission replaced because of a 3-4 shift issues. New transmission was great for the first few months. Now, the 3-4 bog/hesitate/slam to 4th is developing. My bad luck? Doubtful. Has to be a design flaw. I'm debating offloading mine before it gets worse. Very disappointed.

Waiting for call back on my 19 XLT 4x4
Waiting for the call back on my 10r80 "rebuild". I've been through flashes, valve body overhaul, valve body replacement and now this..this is all after phasers. Was a big improvement with the valve body but still ultra harsh downshifting in sport and tow/haul. Went in expecting some kind of flash or tsb but they put my on a call back for transmission surgery.. ugh. I bought this truck used w/ 44k miles. I did not expect to have this many problems. Otherwise I love the truck. Any other testimonials out there about 10r80 rebuild by Ford dealership?

I notice a lot of shifting issues up and down that are blamed fully on the transmission.
There are outside signals that also are involved Up and Down shifting.
.
Engine speed, Torque estimation, Accelerator pedal position, Brake pedal position all affect TCC, scheduling, fluid pressure level changes etc..
Question is, are these outside actions ever investigated for repeat malfunction?
Accelerator position% involves the Throttle body!!!
There is a Brake position setting and contacts to be awhere of.
There is an adaptive learning drive cycle that should be done after any replacement.
If metal particles are found in the fluid, are they from the fluid pump drive gear failure? A close look at the pieces should indicate this by shape and size.
In this case a thorough flush and cleaning is required or failure can occur again in some other manifestation from small particles circulating with the fluid
Any transmission codes related should be highly considered first as a clue to what area has the fault first.
It's tough for a Patient to question the Doctor and get accurate answers.
Good luck.

Just bought a new to me 20 RCSB and the transmission is awful. I see why the previous owner traded it in with such low miles… lol
I guess I’ll hope for the best. Good luck on your issues OP.
