Default 2018 needs another diff

Hey everyone. I’m new and I’m need of info.
I bought my 2018 Lariat new. The rear diff went so they rebuilt it. Then the front diff went. They rebuilt. Then the front went again and I replaced again about two months ago. Guess what…..the rear is gone again. When I get this one done this truck will have had six 6 differentials in her. Three front and three back.
Just did the 70k oil change.
Any thoughts on what’s going on?

If I had to guess the obvious would be don't drive around in 4wd on hard surface, that is for mud and snow only.

If I were you, I'd either go to a different dealer or insist that they replace the entire rear axle. Either something is wrong with that axle, or the shop that is rebuilding it is not competent.

They are in process of ordering parts so I have time. Gonna talk to them today and see if I can get anywhere. Like I say this will be the sec in the back. Front already has its second rebuild.

Came across a similar thread yesterday. First thing to note is that this is NOT common. Setting up diff's is a work of art and should only be done by the competent tech who does it regularly. If it were me, id be asking for a whole axle be swapped in. At the very least, a similar or lower mileage used unit.

i had a friend who got his rearend rebuilt 6 times because it was under warranty. no surprise when the warranty was up it blew again I rebuilt it one time and he has 50,000 miles on it. this tells me that whoever was building them for him had no idea what they were doing or they really liked doing work for free

setting up gear sets is actually pretty easy, set it up to the required backlash and check that the pattern is centered, if not correct add/take away shims until it is to spec. Once you get it back it may not be a bad idea to drop the cover and check that the backlash and pattern are to spec. just for peace of mind.

I find it hard to believe that these gears are being installed in a faulty manner. In that case, I’d imagine the symptoms would show rather quickly.

I’m inclined to put the truck up on a lift and look for any driveshaft or axle imbalances. Since you’ve had issues with both diffs, possibly even the transfer case needs a look. One of those being either bent or out of alignment will definitely shred those gears over time.
