2018 looking sweeter
I hope the new rumors are true and they make sense to me. I think it is as was said earlier to compete with Chevy/GMC 6.2L numbers (420/460). It would have 20 less HP but 20 more TQ, which they would market as well as say tow more too.
Since this is the only engine being offered, it would make sense to make it go after Chevy's more powerful V8 instead of the 5.3L.

What you have to remember is if it was on the Canadian Ford site then you have to account for the US/Canadian exchange rate when calculating the HP (400Cnd = 300US).
But seriously when talking to the Dealer they too have been told that both the V8 & EB will get increased HP. They almost have to bump it up because both Dodge and GM are also bumping up their motors also.

I like the new looks. And adding a supercharger to the 2018 5.0 should really produce great power. I was going to SC my 13 this year, but I'm going to hold off now. I may have to upgrade first.
Listen from 4 minutes in for about ten seconds. Hmmmm.

Here's some pure speculation from a HP perspective (torque thoughts omitted).......
The standing V8 is currently at 385 HP (10 HP over the 'flagship' 3.5EB). With the first gen 3.5EB Ford was satisfied to have their Flagship engine trail the Coyote by 20 HP and still call it their top engine offering.
Now with the new V8 coming, if Ford were to tap out the HP variance between the two engines at 20 HP the new V8 would come in at 395 HP. Now that's not very exciting is it? Any more HP however and you start getting quite a bit of difference between the "flagship" 3.5EB and the V8. People may start asking why an engine with 30 plus HP deficit is considered a 'flagship' engine.
The 2018 is a refresh! Ford Marketing Board Room - "Lets create some excitement!!!" After all the competition is tough. We certainly cant Top the Raptor so we have to stay under 450HP. Let's make the V8 420 HP. That's exciting isn't it? Now, we already unzipped our fly early on with the refreshed looks, tech, stereo. We have to keep something cool for the roll out right?
OK give the 3.5EB 400 HP!!! Yeah! That'll do it!! 20 HP less than the Coyote like the first gen 3.5EB versus the current V8. Put the V8 somewhere between the 3.5EB and the Raptor version.
That short snippet on the video AND the new article about the Canadian website supported by a verification via an earlier post? I don't know guys. I would bet we will all be surprised come fall.

With a good tuner, those number become a mute point anyway. Have had a 5 Star tune on my '13 EcoBoost since after the first week and it easily makes more HP and torque than the new numbers so these engines can go a lot more. Have over 100,000 miles on my truck now with the only hiccup coming from the new plugs which I had to re-gap to get rid of the stumbling after I installed them. I'm holding out for 2020 to trade and get a new one. I like the new front end better than the "half hoop" of the latest version.
Hey! I wasn't sure if this was a sarcastic comment, or if it was something you actually experienced? Not long after getting my new '15, I was losing oil and seeing it on the ground. Came to find out that the dipstick was out. I assumed it was not properly put in by a tech, but your comment made me wonder if it actually "blew out"...
