Default 2018 Lariat

I am considering a 2018 Lariat. I was going to go with a 501A 4WD but have come across a 502A that’s less equipped. The Main differences in each truck is listed below.

501 - 3.5L, Twin Panel moon Roof, Spray in bed liner, max towing package.

502 - 5.0L Heated steering wheel, heated 2nd row and B&O.

Both piced at $59K, any thoughts.

Thanks.

Do you tow or have a need for the max towing package?

You can have a line-x liner sprayed that is better than the ford factory liner.

I prefer the 3.5 eco over the 5.0 but with the 10 speed and 5.0 combo, I think it's a better contender and I might consider it if I bought again.

I have the pano sunroof and I literally never open it. I also am one of few whose pano sunroof doesn't leak. If I ordered a truck directly from ford, I would not order the sunroof.

Does the 501a have led headlights? The 502a comes standard with them and is a huge improvement over halogens.

My vote is 502a. If you live anywhere where it gets cold, you won't believe how much you'll appreciate the heated steering wheel.

Thats a tough call because theye in a way 2 different trucks. I dont know if this is important to you but the 501 doesnt come with the LED heads/fogs which is a big ticket item and ive read a lot of guys bummed they didnt realize that when they got the 501 vs 502. Spray in liner is nothing and if you dont tow heavy the max tow shouldn't even be a consideration. The hardest decision is the motor and unfortunately asking here wont help lol There is no definitive answer as to which is better, EB owners swear by the EB and same goes for the 5.0 guys, at the the end of the day though theyre both going to be great motors.

Rebates and deals seem to be better with a Lariat

The KR is a beaut of a truck but the 2 tone exterior and interior set up is a love or hate thing. I couldve had a KR for pretty much the same cost as my 502 but it was too country for me

These trucks are getting so expensive, I ordered ecsctly what I wanted so I don't pay for anything I didn't want. I went the lariat 502a, and got the technology package, sport package, and adaptive cruise. Stickers at high 56...I was quoted 50 before tax

502 gets my vote, the LED and BLIS is worth it over the sunroof.

ANYTHING WITHOUT THE SUNROOF! Read thru many of the threads here about the plastic track parts breaking multiple times over the course of a couple of years. Nice option....when it's not broken.

My personal choice would be the 3.5 motor, but unless you do a LOT of towing, the 5.0 should be a pretty acceptable alternative.

Max Tow is nice, but again, how much do you tow? I'd rather have the tow mirrors...with or without a tow pkg.

Bed liner can be done a dozen different ways--I like Line-X, personally.
