Having trouble programming a new replacement OEM key fob on a 2018 XLT (flip key fob, not push button fob). I have the two original key fobs and have followed the directions in the owners manual, but it does not work.

The locksmith seller on eBay claims that since mid 2017 self programming is not doable anymore, even though the printed manual says it can be done... Says you have to take it to Ford or a locksmith who has the new OEM software.

Anyone else with a 2018 have a key fob programming problem?

 

I have a 1 week old F-150 XLT and have same exact issue. Got key cut locally fine, but no joy programming additional keys using instructions in manual or from Fords site. Found another user in a thread and he said he gave up and went to dealer to have key added. Sad that it appears this was disabled by Ford.

 

Same here. Bought two additional genuine key fobs from a reputable locksmith and cannot program them following the manual's instructions. Looks like I'm off to the dealer to get raped $$$$

 

I programmed a 3rd key on my 2018. I had some trouble in the beginning, but finally got it done. The manual wasn't any help. I think I used an older procedure that I found on my interweb device. If I remember how I did it, ll post it up.

Any update on a working procedure?

 

I had sent a private message to Raptoe13 asking about the procedure he had used. Turns out his truck has the intelligent access key (push button start), so he's procedure is a different one all together.

I ended having the the dealer do mine. Told them I'd buy the extended warranty from them (instead of online through Flood Ford) if they'd program my extra key for free.

On Edit: The dealer's service dept said it has to be done using Ford's IDS system (?). They claimed it can't be done with Forscan.

 

Thought I'd ask one more time just in case, and before sweet talking dealer at my first service appointment.
Anyone have any luck programming a third key on a 2018 F150? Obviously current info in the owners manual is not correct.

 

Add me to the list of those that can't program a 3rd key using the procedure in the manual. Any working procedure yet for 2018 models?
