2018 F150 5.0L - Excessive Oil Consumption ***TSB-2058***

Went in yesterday to get my oil checked for the third time since the oil change to start the test. This oil had about 1200mi on it...
I've been checking the oil on my own and have seen the oil level go down in the hash marks. It's about halfway down now. My process is that I drive the truck to work and park in the same spot (a very level spot). I let it sit all day, then check the oil before I start out for home.
Both this last time at the dealer and when Mrs. Aqualung took it 2 weeks ago, they waited the prescribed 15 minutes after shutdown and the oil level was well up in the hash marks. I was skeptical when she came home and told me that they told her all was well. However, I saw it myself yesterday.
When I told the tech the difference in what I was seeing, he told me that the shop manual states that oil should be checked when warm, but after 15 min after shutdown. He said he frankly didn't know the difference and why the results are different, but he knows that there will be different results when checked dead cold like I am doing.
The tech also told me that he's heard of some oil consumption problems being solved with the PCV valve replacement.
This particular dealership hasn't had any other F150s in for this issue ànd haven't had to replace any engines. Mustangs, yes, but no F150s.
So, at this point, I don't know what's going to shake out with it...

If you want to verify what the dealer tech is saying you could check the oil hot 15 minutes after shutdown upon arriving at work (would require getting to work at least 15 minutes early) and then again cold when you get off work before heading home to see if it measures different.
Thanks, though.

Seems pretty strange the level would go down from 15 mins after shut down to several hrs later? The purpose of waiting the 15 mins is to let the oil drain into the pan, waiting longer does the engine somehow siphon oil back up just sitting?
Time was you could always depend on getting a good read with engine stone cold. I've noticed since switching to full synthetic, after 15 mins from shut down, the oil looks like it may still be dripping on the stick. If I wait an hour or 2, the level seems more apparent on the stick?

When my dealer did the consumption test, they waited 15 minutes and checked. I know when I checked myself the oil level stayed the same from 15 minutes after shutoff through the next morning.

I noticed they overfilled mine as well during the O.C Test

I started the OC test last week. I took it in for the first oil change and it was changed for free because of the test. The dip stick has the new marks and was told to check it every 200miles myself. The truck had 6700 miles on it when I took it in. I told them I had put in 4 quarts of oil in to just keep it on the stick. Like others have said if it uses a full quart in 3000 miles they will replace the engine.
