2018 F150...100% auto stop/start

I sometimes wonder if the majority of people complaining about Auto Start/Stop have actually drove an F150 with this feature? I was somewhat worried about it when I first purchased the truck and figured I would be one of the guys hitting the "Off" button every time I got inside. But honestly, it is very easy to manage and like another poster stated, it's great for work traffic when I'm stopped for 2+ minutes at each stop. I'm glad I have it on my 2.7EB

I've had my 2.7 with stop/start for 2 years, and have 68k. Always leave it on, never had a problem. Still starts like it's new every time. The entire engine is designed around this feature, and....
What Rick said. It's not a regular starter. On top of that, it only activated when the engine is warm and is in ideal situations where restarting is pretty much instant. There is no "cranking" of the engine when it restarts like when you start a cold engine. You hear the starter and the engine start running at the same time, and there's no delay in getting going because the engine's running by the time you can move your foot over to the gas pedal.

And to add to this. Start/stop feature is not just about the starter turning over the engine to start, there's a lot of things going on behind the scenes to make this work. For example, when the start/stop feature is enabled and the system goes to stop the engine, it ensures that one of the cylinders is at BDC with an air fuel mixture already primed in the cylinder. Or in the case of a direct injected motor, the injector is pressurized and ready to inject fuel. I've also heard that they even go as far as putting the cylinder in TDC with the air/fuel mixture so that it just takes a spark to start the motor (although I'm not sure how long an engine can maintain enough cylinder pressure before too much escapes into the crank case). When the system takes the engine out of stop mode and into start, the starter only has to energize long enough to turn the crank 180 degrees to compress and ignite the primed cylinder. That's how they can start the engine and be ready before you hit the gas pedal.

To half the people in this thread: Your 'Murica is showing
I should add something of quality here though. I like the A.S.S personally. It works well when it needs to, I catch it every now and then having to start when it just shut off or trying to in creep traffic, but thats usually when I'm not paying attention to the brake pedal pressure. I also know how to anticipate light changes, unlike some people apparently, and move my foot off the brake slightly to crank the engine well before the light changes. Even if I don't, the truck moves immediately when i take my foot off the brake entirely. The only thing I've ever seen bad about the A.S.S is that I have to explain it to friends when they ask if the truck just stalled. But then they think its pretty neat after a while.
It won't shut off in all sorts of conditions, like inside too cold, outside too hot, outside too cold, inside too hot, steering wheel turned too far (anticipates turns), I found sometimes sharp declining angles triggers it to stay running too, sport mode, tow haul mode, battery condition, electrical load overall, etc.

hit the button to turn it off (but I know, hitting a button is hard )
drive in sport mode, it turns it off as well (but Ill get worse gas mileage.... in a truck)
I barely notice it, its A LOT more subtle then my aunt's X5 was
I thought I wouldn't love it, I barely notice it now

As does having a trailer connected.

My truck has it and I hated it from the first day. I tried to adjust with it for a month, all it did was aggravate me. So I disabled it, much happier now.
It's all a matter of choice. Not cool to dis someone just because they don't like something. I could do the same about some of the truck options others spend their money on. All I wanted was to be given a choice to have it or not have it. And no, the option to turn it off every time I turn on the truck is not a real choice. It's like saying that I have to push a button to block a popup ad every time I open my browser. Nope, not a real choice.

I don't LOVE the system, but I don't hate it like I expected to. When I'm in an area where I know the lights and know I'm about to get a green right after a stop, I'll use light pressure on the brake or tap the button, but for the most part it does its job and I appreciate when it shuts off at a long light, etc. About the time I get really used to it, it'll be 100 degrees around here and it'll only work at night, but I figure the stop-start is contributing to my 18 mpg average in mixed driving that's probably under 1/4 hwy, which I really can't complain about!
