Default 2018 5.0 needs an engine

I have a 2018 5.0 with 16,000 miles. Started knocking. Took it to the dealer and they said the cam phasers were bad. Replaced those and still knocked. They called the Ford engineers and when they came out to look at it they said the top of the engine had no oil pressure. Warranty approved an engine rebuild. It’s been a month and a half and they still have my truck. Luckily they gave me a 2022 bronco as a loaner. Has any other 5.0 guys had this trouble? So far Iv had 3 oil leaks at the oil pan, 1 oil leak at the drain plug, and the engine knocking. Hopefully this thing doesn’t turn out to be a pos. This is my 12th f150 and the first time I had all these problems.

According to what I read on the internet the 5.0's in 2018 had some issues that have been corrected in newer trucks. Never had many issues with the 5.0 in older trucks. My 2014 has 118,000 miles on it and only needed a water pump at about 85,000. I'd suspect you'll get an upgraded engine at Ford's cost and live happily ever after. Sounds like the original engine was a lemon.

the dealership tried to get a complete engine replacement but the warranty company denied it and told them to rebuild the top end. If that still doesn’t work they will allow a full engine replacement. Unfortunately it will prolly be another month or so until I see the truck again

I’ll bet your prior repairs caused the failure, rtv clogging the oil passage

they did the cam phasers and timing chain and they took it for a test drive and said it was smooth and great when it was cold but as soon as the engine warmed up it was knocking again. I was really hoping for a full engine replacement. This engine proved to be unreliable so far. If they rebuild the top end and it still knocks warranty will do an engine replacement

Great looking truck..glad you got a loaner and new one at that.. will you sell or trade once you get back your F150? If so , would you go 2021 F!50 or another brand altogether?

What "warranty company"? You should still be under your 5/60 Ford powertrain warranty.

once it’s fixed I’ll keep it. I always wanted a 5.0 sport and I have too much money into at this point lol

This doesn't make sense. What is the in-service date on your truck? If it was put in service 11/2017 it would still be going until 11/2022. Do you have FordPass where you can verify if your powertrain warranty is out?
